Hey Karen! Hello

I've heard alot of good things about a Nikon Coolpix camera and all the photos I've seen from one are exceptional. Nodding Mine is a Canon Power Shot Elph. Right now, that's all I can tell you about it...it's still packed away in a box...somewhere. Roll eyes It wasn't very expensive either, but if I'd have realized I wanted to get better photos (and close ups) of wild life, I think I'd have picked a better one. Maybe next time.

Spring has definitely sprung in your neck of the woods! I just love spring with all the new growth on trees and the flowers blooming! Bee-u-tee-ful photo of Saxe Point Park!

WOW! That eagle photo is fabulous! I love how you're looking up at him and get a view under his beak. Wub He looks so intent!

You have light houses where you live? That must be kewl to be able to see one...I've only seen pictures of them. ( I guess there's disadvantages to being land locked...no need for a light house on the river) Is that a working light house? This may be a silly question, but do you know if there's a difference in light houses on the east coast versus the west coast? Or are they virtually the same set up? (This is what happens when you're stuck smack dab in the middle of the country. We're not so savvy in the ways of the coasts)

Keep all your wonderful photos coming! I'm loving every one of them!

ETA...

Well it just figures! I washed my car less than 24 hours ago, and it's thundering and lightning now. Glad I didn't wax it or we'd probably have a tornado warning. Roll eyes

Hi Nightowl and Karen and Jill,

Nightowl, I have a Nikon Coolpix L18 and most of the pictures I have taken are from it. Some pictures I post are my husband's and he has a Nikon 7000 and his pictures are great. But he says that even with any camera a good picture will happen - it's your eye and catching it. So, whatever you have will work.

As far as washing cars ------I have not washed my car in over 6 months and did two days ago. Yesterday we had unexpected rain and I was out. Three people at the party where I was had washed their car and one was intending to but did not have time. It's our faults!

Lighthouses are similar both places, vary in size. We went on the Lighthouse Trail in Nova Scotia last trip there and was a joy that was. Check out Peggy's Cove Lighthouse - you can find that one easily. I love the ones Karen posts so beautiful. In Montauk, LI at the end of the island there is a big lighthouse we used to visit. We summered part of our summers in Amagansett, LI, living on the bay. We also went over to the ocean which had some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world. We are talking deep sand and huge snow mounds. On the bay we had overlooks of sand which had ladders down to the beach. They were like cliffs and you were not supposed to run on them because it could cause erosion.

After one norwester or hurricane, the ocean beach had a huge drop off by the water of over 20 feet and then the beach above that. You had to slide down to get to the water and the waves were 9 feet or so. No swimming though as it was red flag.

(Sorry, you got me started). I love the little lighthouses and the big ones. We are going to Nova Scotia this summer to the northern end of the island and will see more lighthouses, beaches and mountains.
Nuff said.....you will kick me out......

wave Good Morning Hornby Friends

The Fisgard lighthouse is the oldest on the west coast of Canada, practically in my back yard. It is only functional in that it is set to blink as soon as dusk sets in. No one lives in it but you can go down and tour the inside. It sits right at the mouth of Esquimalt harbour, home of the Canadian Fleet, 2 row boats and a canoe Rolling on floor laughing It is about a mile across the bay from Saxe Point Park but the zoom on my camera easily makes it look like it is right there. I don't think there is much difference in light houses from one coast to the other.

I used to have a Canon but when the camera salesman showed me what the Nikon could do I was sold! I gave my Canon to my husband who promptly lost it in the washroom of the Copenhagen airport Roll eyes He now has my Nikon P90.

The only way I can get a view of the eagle is from underneath - he sits 100 feet up in the tree, not exactly at eye level Titter

We had torrential rains overnight - hope I can get out without getting wet to shop for what I have to cook for tonight's farewell to the choir master/organist's party.

Nightowl, your cats this morning remind me of the scene from Les Miserables (the musical) of all the people looking over the barrier they had made to keep out the French soldiers!

Carolyn, will you be able to see Bev when you go to Nova Scotia this summer?

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi everyone.. here is the beautiful Pegg's Cove Light House.. .Cl for bigger...

According to legend, Peggy's Cove was named after the only survivor of a schooner that ran aground and sank in 1800... a woman named Margaret. Local folk called her "Peggy" and her home came to be known as Peggy's Cove. The original lighthouse was built in 1868. Exactly 100 years later, in 1968 the Campbell family opened a five-table tea room and the Sou'Wester was born.

wave Nightowl, Karen,Carolyn, Bev (you 'ol pinkie hair you), and all!

Just a quick note as I am fighting some kind of bug and need to get back to bed....

I tried to get on earlier today, but couldn't for some reason get on. Was the Forum down?

Thank you all for the photos!! I especially like lighthouses, and was going to put on a few pics I took of lighthouses on our trip to Cape Cod. Problem is, they were taken with my old non-digital Pentax K1000 so they are not on the computer!!! Cry There is something beautiful about lighthouses. Out there to be a good friend and protect people.

I have consumed plenty of chicken soup, and plan toget back to the living soon. Cannot wait to see Ma and Pa!!
Pretty soon we will have to have a movie time if Bev promises to behave herself!!! Wooh

Good morning Carolyn, Bev, Karen, and Jill! Hello

Hope you feel better Jill!

My computer seemed to be having issues earlier...seemed it was 'missing plug ins' on certain sites. Don't Know I turned it off and back on and it seems fine now. That's the extent of my technological capabilities...turn the computer off and on.

Good to see you here Bev! Nodding Thanks for the story (and photo) of Peggy's Cove. I'd heard of it, but had no clue how it got it's name.

Carolyn, we'd never get rid of you!

More chicken soup, Jill! They say it'll cure whatever that ails ya...no matter how long it takes.

OK, the brain is still fuzzy. I didn't have to take the kid to work today, but still managed to wake up early...and today is my long day. I'm going back to bed and see if that rejuvenates my brain cell.
