Terry and cococat and Judy - are you watching?

Did you see the adult pick up the food and go to the left side of the tree trunk and do a bit of feeding - or at least try to? And I thought I saw movement there when I really thought both chicks were next to the adult, hidden by the tree trunk.

Did any of you see what I thought I saw?

Drat! No, JudyB, I didn't. I was also on the phone at that time (my daily chat with my mom is always sometime between 5 and 5:30 here) I couldn't focus on the nest activity the way I wanted to.

5:39pm mom is brooding sitting tall facing to 9oclock. I think the rain is stopped at the moment.

I'm 95% certain there are three. love

videos soon....

Added -

This is part 1 - a four-minute video. I haven't watched it a second time, but while I was recording it, I saw an older eaglet being fed to the right of the tree trunk, and a young eaglet staring off into space to the left of the tree trunk - as very young chicks do when they haven't figured out they need to at least get their beak headed in the general direction of an adult if they want to be fed. I did not see the middle chick - but it looked to me as if the oldest one stopped eating occasionally to aim a couple of quick pecks at something next to her - so I'm guessing that she had the middle chick in submission. I've noticed that #1 chicks that have been quite tolerant of #2 chicks suddenly have second thoughts about that when a #3 chick appears - though most of the time they work it out in a day or two with minimal aggression, as long as there's plenty of food.

Video Camera One Big Chick and One Little Chick

And this is part 2 - a two-minute video. I can't be certain, but I think both older chicks are standing up side by side (and I'm guessing #2 is being fed, with no complaints from a pleasantly full #1) - and behind them, I think we can see #3 bobbing around and trying to get the attention of the adult.

Video Camera Dinner for Three?

The feeding continued for quite a while after the second recording, but all three(?) chicks were mostly behind the tree trunk, so I didn't try to record. I did get the sense from the actions of the adult that she(?) was gently feeding the little one once the two big ones were full.

And I will note that this pair had a somewhat smaller third chick last year - and that little one did just fine. Smile

Hi Judy. I have never posted here before. I just watched your last video and definitely saw 3 little bobble heads

Welcome, luvtheanimals - and thank you! I thought I was seeing three, but really wanted to know what other people saw!

(And we used to have a cat like the one in your avatar - very handsome!)

8:04pm..........JudyB, I just watched your video of dinner for 3 and thought I saw a glimpse of something just to the left of that branch. I don't know if it was a 3rd chick or just one of the others, but it does look promising for a 3rd chick, doesn't it? You have been very busy today with videos, so thanks for that! Terry, Carole, Judy (gary and judy) and lovetheanimals, thanks for your observations and notes today! I can see that you too, were very busy today!

Mom is just sitting on the nest right now. What a wet day for her.....poor thing! It has started to rain again here and I notice Moms hairdo being blown all around in the breeze.

HelloSharon, my apologies for mixing you up with gd in reference to that video. I'm trying to do too many things at one time. And I do know that you are great with capturing action on video!
