Bev, I realize the osprey are not banded. I've been following this nest since 2007 and I know for certain that this osprey is not Ethel; and further believe it is the same the male from 2011.

It will be interesting to follow the developments as they unfold.

Heavy rain and windy at the nest..the nest is swaying.. i think this bird is the same Oscar from 2011also , having checked numerous scaps from last year......will cont. to watch and see what happens here... i also believe we had a another Osprey on this nest yesterday also.. it looked female to me..JMO..

I have my new computer up running...so trying to catch up

Last season's female may have been lost in the hurricane, I believe she was last seen on the nest 8/23 or 8/24, that's when the storm was heading up the east coast.

I recorded this 12:52 to 1:02. I'm out to check my nests now, but will keep recording.

I just went though all my scaps .. you are right....the last time Mom was on the nest was August 23, 2011... ... Mom spent a lot of time on the nest the last few days and in particular that day with Fisher.. like she knew she would be leaving.. i remember it well ..Mom was waiting for Fisher to finish his fish...she gets it...it was Dark and Mom was eating and looking around.. here are some of my scaps

I know they don't go south together but do they return North together??
