From the chat.

Reese:
Talked to Dr Mitchell Byrd, THE bald eagle expert, and he said he had never seen 4 mates in one season. May happen in the wild but never documented before.

I didn't realize this was confirmed. Sad

I confirmed #1 dead weeks ago

I also didn't realize that #1's death had been confirmed, though I suspected it. Perhaps they didn't make a big public announcement, knowing that we were still a bit in mourning over the loss of Mom Norfolk, and learning that Dad's new companion had also died would have compounded that.

I do hope that this one is "the one" - or that someone is. This roller coaster ride is going on a bit too long for my taste - not that I have a vote! Titter

Judy B and everyone.....I also did not realize that #1's death had been confirmed either. I also did not realize but read it on the mod board that #3 was chased away by #4 - is that certain? My thought were she decided enough is enough (but I guess it translates to the same thing - chased away).

This has been a great lesson in observation and surprise. The more I watch, the more it becomes clear that having eggs is what Dad is driven to want. There hopefully is a roller coaster stop ahead.

I guess Mr. Lukei didn't realize he hadn't posted the death information regarding #1 before. I just reviewed the Mod board this am and as eaglet 999 posted

7:01
Reese:
I confirmed #1 dead weeks ago

Then a couple more responses

7:23 am in response to the enquiry
"How did #1 die?"
Reese:
Flew into power lines

7:25am
"what happened to #1?"
Reese:
Sent to USGS lab to be examined - no report yet as far as I know

So we are all now Up to Date in Norfolk Garden

Hello everyone.. Such sad news about Eagle number one. I had no idea that she died a big loss for the Eagle community even when we lose one...
I'm at work and I have the cam up in the background at 2:13..... I'm looking at an empty nest. Hopefully we will have some Eagle activity soon....

Reese never did post that #1 had been confirmed dead before today!! He had only posted that it was a 5 year old female and that there were not enough identifying characteristics to tell who it was!! I have always felt that it was she! Now we have finally been told the truth and it's about time.

Fly strong and free beautiful #1 sad
