BOY!!! That was a heck of a fight on the nest earlier tonight!!! Wooh I was gone ...out of the house...no computer!! I think I will have to start dragging my laptop around with me!!

Thanks for the video Darlene!! I'm so glad that you caught the action so I couls see what happened! What a day for the first sound ever from Norfolk. I loved hearing Dad's voice but I wish that it was under calmer circumstances!!

I have the links to two more videos of the intrusion that I got from the Norfolk chat. I spent an hour and a half over there reading up on what happened tonight. Faint

Mom remains seated and Dad is still perched
nearby on the branch near 12.

Things have been calm for the last 10 minutes
hopefully whatever has caused the stress has left.

Hello HI DEBS!! Yep--I'm still up posting tonight!!!

One of the Norfolk eagle papparrazzi captured some outstanding photos of DT having an aerial fight with the intruding female earlier in the day. Congo posted the link to her photos on the chat. Everybody needs to take a look at these pics---they are really amazing. Be sure to click them larger for a good look! These are VERY copyrighted so look only, please...do not share or copy them.

Hello Judy H

Glad you are here too. At 12;55 am I think there may have been an eagle fly aggressively at the nest, I heard the alarm by both eagles, hoarse calling from DT and thevhigher one from Dad on the branch. It was very fast, and the alarm calls continued for close to ten minutes off and on. Dad may have given chase, He was on the back branch at 1:04 am., my picture is too grainy to tell if he is still there.

1:25am DT is flat out in the nest, looks to be soundly sleeping. Guess it has been a rough day here, I was just going through the posts when I heard the ruckus and looked in again. These intruders at the various nests are very disturbing.

eta wave Mary, Did you hear the commotion and see anything from 12:55 to 1:05 or so tonight? Thanks for posting the photos, I missed all the action today so will check them out now.

Bluebird... Hello DITTO... big time. Thank you so much for sharing what you thought you saw. Someone else who is watching said they thought they saw another eagle fly aggressively by the nest as well. I just did not see that, but it is different visually at night, huh? I am so glad you saw it.

1.40 Peace at the nest. Dad is still perched on the love branch.. and he is looking in the direction of his new mate... I guess she is his new (for sure) mate after today....

Hello Bluebird...another nightowl!! Grin

Yes I saw all the commotion at the nest that started just before 1:00AM nest time. There must have been an intruder...maybe the same one from earlier. The mods on the chat had all gone to bed and they missed it so no comments from them.

I do have a few s'caps of action that took place before Debs' s'caps so I will post them too.

This was just before the big ruckus...things looked pretty calm and it was quiet.

All of a sudden DT jumped up and they both started callin very loudly. I'm not sure if I caught a glimpse of the intruder down off the left side of the nest but Dad sure took off after something like a jet!

DT was left alone in the nest looking very defensive and screeming her lungs out. There was lots of eagle noise off cam too!

Mary Thanks for the link to the pictures; the photographer captured the "death grip" man I got chilled just lookin at those pictures. So glad Momma Norfolk was able to let go!! What a sad situation our hearts go out to this beautiful pair. So many more intrusions this past year and so similar to what we have seen at the NCTC nest. I hope for our Norfolk pair Wub that this "intrusion" has been resolved now once and for all & that Mom and Dad Norfolk have prevailed at maintaining their territory and home.

Have a good night all wave

sleepy

Everything got very quiet off cam and DT was looking all over for Dad and calling quietly.

Dad came back to the Love Branch but both eagles were still on alert.

Nearly 1/2 hour later everything seems peaceful. Poor tired DT is really sacked out and Dad is facing out up on the love branch guarding his nest!!
