Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to dance.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
and pay our rent and not swear in the street
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Guess what? The sun is shinning brightly and I have a Dr. appt at 1 oh great.
I hope your all feeling great and doing your thing, whatever it may be but enjoy it.,
I wonder what everyone is doing,
I watch the Black river Eagle and she only laid 2 eggs, now she is sitting on them.
Hope her husband helps he more than he did last year,amazing bird that one.

Well have to go so hope you give me a surprise and write something here. I would love that. Vickie I know you will, and an always Thankyou for helping out. Ayla too.

1820's Dress of White Embroidered

Muslin! >Delightful and feminine hand-stitched muslin dress embroidered

all over with a small leaf design. Slightly elevated waist. The bodice and

skirt are gathered into the waistband, and the lower skirt has a froth of pretty

frills in fine muslin. I really should have photographed this dress with a slip

under to give it a slightly different shape, but it's just as pretty like this.

The most amazing thing about this dress is the condition... damn good! Really!

Nearly good as new. Very strong fabric... and still quite white. There are a

few tiny pinholes here and there, and if you look really really hard, you will

see an ever so slight darkening at the double ruffled hem in one area (see

photos - if you can't see what I'm talking about, that will just prove how light

this is!!), but I'm being overly picky for a dress nearly 190 years old. Oh,

and one other issue is that the waist tie tapes are missing at the back (only

one small bit of one side still exists), but these are easily replaced. But I

guarantee, you will be amazed by the overall condition! Ooh, and those cuffs

are lovely! Even has a simple lacy embroidered net collar. Hand-sewn original

buttons at back and cuffs. Measures: 30" bust, 24" empire waist, 50" long from

shoulder to hem.

Well I won't be showing dresses anymore my oh my to hard to put on and write about them.
I had to have some taken off and I don't want any more hazzels serves me right hahaha/
I do however want you to see some shoes ok Unreal that they are still around .
But they sure look uncomfortable Now I will see if I can muck this youn too,
But I will not make any comments ... That wikl help.

Jean, the wedding dress is lovely - probably a treasure for sure. Oh but the shoes -o No no no No No OH OUCH, my feet hurt looking at them. I have worn very expensive sandals for 19 years and the thought of my fee being inside something makes me ache. Though the materials look quite soft and pliable?

Had a busy day again, and so glad tomorrow is Friday - oh how Iove Fridays, especially when it gets to be about 4:00 - Home time.
