Hi suzcues, and thanks for your thoughts.

Three things come to mind -

First, my understanding is that this nest is in a residential neighborhood bordering on agricultural land, so there is nowhere nearby that I'm aware of with the sort of public access that exists at Patricia Bay, near the Sidney nest. Our agreement with the people who host the camera and the rest of our equipment is that we will do our viewing over the internet and not try to visit the site for a closer look - everything Richard Pitt wrote last summer (forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=262496) is still valid today - if the folks who live there feel that the cam is causing a disruption in the neighborhood, they'll turn off the cam.

Second, while there has been a tradition among some First Nation/Native American peoples of giving back to the eagles, this is not something we discuss or advocate here, in part because leaving fish heads lying around could be considered littering or creating a nuisance if it attracted other animals or neighborhood pets, and in part because not everyone has the best interest of the eagles at heart, and discussing where eagles come to feed could put them at risk.

Third, while some days there is less food than other days, I have seen nothing to suggest that these eaglets are at risk. This pair did a fine job last year, and I expect they'll do just fine again this year. We have a great team observing the nest, and we have experts to consult with if our experienced observers are seeing a problem - as we are doing now with Goldwing.

I do thank you all for your support, and your concern - and apologize for using your post, suzcues, as a starting point for responding to a number of related questions and comments over the last few days.

And like everyone else, I do hope we see a couple of good meals before long.

I've said this before, but think it may have been missed.

Until we replace the encoder, the eaglets will look skinnier than they really are.

How they look on our standard Hancock Wildlife/Wildearth feed:

How they really look, when the stream is in its proper 16x9 format (clicks bigger):

I can see the actual feed from the cam when I log in to control it (which I can do now, though I don't often have time to do that) - and the second view is how it really looks.

Thanks so much Judy for these updates, all of us are hoping for a quick resolution to the eaglet's situation. REquest:, could someone knowledgable come to the SS on UStream and give some positive feedback for the many that are there?. I know this is an unusual request and am sorry if it will be an inconvience. Thanks for listening

And like everyone else, I do hope we see a couple of good meals before long.

I do have a suggestion.
If our members here would direct others (cam watchers, etc) to our website for updates that would really be appreciated. As much as we would love to, there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day for us to find and post in other places other than our own Facebook page and here at the forum. We are trying our best to keep things as updated as possible.

Latest update from Bev when I spoke to her today is that she thinks GW may need a good meal to get her digestive system working properly again. If that fails to help then there really isn't anything we can do but watch and report as the hours and days go by. Unfortunately, there will not likely be any intervention at this nest unless one of the chicks happens to fall off the nest ...AND we definitely don't want to see that happen.

11:54 pm
I see I missed the one and only meal so far today. I hope GW got a few bites to eat.
At the moment she is standing sentinel while Linux sleeps.

Is Linux checking out GW's toes ? Hope he doesn't decide to nibble on them.

Okay, if you don't leave my toes alone I'm going to lay on your head.

And just when GW was getting comfortable Linux got up and disturbed her. She's standing again.

Out I am out to work for the day.
