The "aunties" who observe more regularly may be able to provide more details, TWEED, but it's been my impression that this can be a "feast and famine" nest - sort of like life in the wild will be, now that I think about it. Some days there's more food than they can eat - other days there may be only a couple of small items brought to the nest.

Also, if you're watching through our primary cam stream (with WildEarth) in the upper right corner, the view of the eaglets (and everything else) is a bit distorted. We're hoping to upgrade the encoder so the cam will be streaming in wide format - but right now we need to use an older 4x3 format encoder - which can make everything look taller and thinner. (Too bad I can't do that in my own life - sounds easier than dieting! Wink )

The cam is occasionally available on WildEarth's UStream site, and the proportions are a bit more natural there:

Not sure why UStream can be converted and the primary feed cannot - it may be because the primary feed is higher resolution.

Right now, both eaglets are standing still enough that I keep thinking the stream has stopped - fortunately there's enough wind that the leaves move occasionally.

Last year some Native Americans brought some discarded fish heads to the beach area of the Sidney cam. Is that not something that can also be done at this nest?

Told myself this morning I would not watch this nest today it's so upsetting but I keep watching. GW hunched over like that w/his neck down reminds me when I broke 2 ribs and was in pain I hunched over.. poor baby hope whatever is in crop will start to digest. We were so lucky in America that our Harmon when he was stuck got rescued and when the 2 Richmond eagles parents left for a couple days their eaglets were brought down and fed. I am so praying that something will be done with GW . I would like to see the other eaglet a little fatter too. I know I am nuts with these Eagles. but if we have no cams this would b taking place and we would never know but since we do watch them on cams it hurts.
thanks for letting me rant and rave LOL

Gosh, did Native Americans come all the way to Sidney to give the eagles some fish heads? Perhaps the source was more local!

There is a First Nations reserve adjacent to the Sidney eagles nest property; the residents sometimes leave fish carcasses and other fish parts on the beach.

Is hunting scarce where this nest is located?

Thank you TWEED . I saw your post on the Harmon site. It's sad that now we can't mention about the Delta eagle nest without getting attacked. I found out about Harmon on the Eagle Crest Hawks site. It used to not be that way when there were only 200 to 300 viewers. Now I think it has been taken over by a lot of viewers from Decorah where you can't even mention another Eagle nest. We are all ABE lovers and every nest is important.
I too have been watching this nest for several days since hearing about it on the Catalina Islands west end nest.
I am so saddened to see GW what appears to me to be very sick. I noticed too how he has his wings hunched up. They both are so thin, and all that plastic trash in the nest. I just hope GW was not poisoned by some contaminant.
