wave Morning Delta 2! It seems the status quo here is pretty much the same as yesterday. Sad Of course I was hoping to log in to find both lets down and comfy, well fed. fingers crossed
I think the adult who landed left the rodent looking prey in front of Gw but Linux might have it covered now by the dried grass that came along with the prey. Actually, I think Linux has unearthed it. fingers crossed Starting to self feed.

From here I will have to be pretty much MIA as MIL fell and broke her hip yesterday. As our local hospital doesn't "do hips" she is being ferried to the big city today for surgery. That will have to be our main focus for a good while I fear. I will continue to check our lets but more as a lurker. Sad

8:06 Lets face each other and no one is eating. hug

Liberty mentioned an officla post, can someone direct me to it? Gold Wing appears to have his neck drwan down, almost like a hunch only sitting up straight. Linux's neck doesn't appear that way...anyone else notice this??

hi phlebidy....i don't know about official post, maybe one of the other auntie's can share the link, if there is one. this nest has an amazing group of auntie's who keep a remarkable accounting of the nest activities, so you might try reading back too. wish i could be of more help....

something that i noticed in this capture, is the odd way that GW squares it's shoulders. compare to linux posture....

Forum Admin jkr posted this around noon on Monday:

Because we've been quite concerned about "stand'let", I called Bev Day at OWL to get her opinion.
I explained that "stand'let" hasn't laid down all day and that she is showing absolutely no interest in food. Bev said that if an eaglet has a big meal after not eating for quite awhile it can take a long time for their food to digest -- even over 24 hours (which could have been from a meal yesterday).
The second thing is that "stand'let" may have swallowed quite a large bone and it will take a long time to digest and make her feel full and uncomfortable.

I was also worried about trash and Bev said if it is trash she swallowed that it will be expelled as a pellet sooner or later.

In the meantime Bev would like us to just keep an eye on "stand'let" for any other odd behavior and we can give her an update if we're still concerned.

She talked with Bev again yesterday morning, and posted this around 9 am yesterday (Tuesday):

I spoke to Bev Day at OWL again this morning to give her an update on Goldwing. I am feeling a bit reassured when Bev told me that eaglets can digest bone even while it's in the crop but that it does take longer to digest than it will in the stomach.
If Goldwing has a bone lodged in her crop it could be taking much longer than the 24 hours to digest and now that she has eaten again she likely feels stuffed.
It usually won't have any effect on whether or not she can lay down, but again that all depends on the direction it's lodged.

Bev will be checking the camera herself today and will let us know if she sees anything else of concern.

I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, but it is the closest thing that comes to mind at short notice.

Thank you Judy and Bev of O.W.L. for following through with my urgent but very concerned e mail concerning the two lets on the Delta2 nest. I haven't documented them this season but I do drop in here once in a while and I was very concerned about the two babys when I saw one pecking and eating one of those white plastic bags. As I said I don't come here to document so I didn't realize that one of the lets had eaten a bone or a large piece of black wing which I see it hacked up as a pellet...I'm just so thankful that you Judy have observed the nest and that Bev of O.W.L. is also monitoring the nest so that both these babys can branch and fledge successfully with out being sick and perish on us as we need to help them as best a human can because we are all eagle lovers or we wouldn't be here.

Hi All I looked in early this AM around 7:00East Coast time they seemed to be sleeping. Just home now have they had a morning feeding yet? I didn't realize food/hunting doesn't seem to be so good there.. GW STILL doesn't look so good to me and both of the E's seem to be on the thin side. yes, I am a worrier my daughter calls me Patricia, Patron Saint of the Worriers. too funny. If he has a bone lodged in his crop i hope it starts to dissolve soon. Ok, back to watch the E's.
