GW (left) raises her head for a moment, Linux (left) has been preening, currently looking upwards..
It's sunny and breezy in Delta, current temp is 14C.
I'm only guessing from the scuffle a bit earlier as to who is who.....heaven knows I could be wrong though.

Raining thank you for having me and answering my question. I have to wonder when he stands like that w/neck down if that is more comfortable. If he does not start to respond better that what he is in the next 24hrs will they remove him ?

3;09pm the dynamic duo are at about 6oclock. 1 seems to be resting while the other is looking around.
3:12pm now both are sitting tall.
3:14pm poop shot over 9oclock spot from 1 of them.

Hi Tweed. GW seems to be doing MUCH better now. I asked the exact same question this morning and jkr said David Hancock prefers to let nature take its course and that seems to be working very well on the Delta 2 nest. If they have to intervene they will but I think mother nature is working her magic on the nest for all of us. That was a good sigh like a breath of fresh air
Thank you for your continued support and interest.

Hi Tweed! I am staying optimistic that our eaglet will be feeling better now that he has coughed up that large pellet of undigestable material. I don't know if they are more comfortable standing or laying down at this age, but I always remind myself that once eagles fledge (fly away from) the nest, they don't do very much laying down any more.
The decision to intervene with a sick eaglet is a very difficult one. Laws here in BC do not generally allow for any 'interference' with the nest and the chicks while they are on the nest. Even if that was not the case the logistics of getting the equipment in to place and gaining the consent of the property owner to access the tree and the nest are time consuming and, depending on what equipment is needed, costly.
Generally when HWF intervenes in the welfare of an eaglet it is when they have fallen from the nest and are too young/unwell to get back up there. In those cases we rely on the expertise of the Orphaned Wildlife Society -- OWL to care for and eventually release the birds in to the wild.
All situations are unique though and the best course of action for now is to observe the chicks as well as we can and be alert to any further signs of sickness or disability. Letting the right people know what is happening is the best option we have at the moment.
Cheers!!
Terry
PS~~ whike I was typing that, the chicks were mostly just relaxing in the nest. One was over by 3oclock for a while and then rejoined his/her sibling near 6oclock
