Hi everyone! Great pictures and reports!
I may be a bit confused, but It's my understanding that what Ken did this weekend is basically unplug the video stream from the old cam (which was only transmitting a blue screen since something happened to the line going up into that part of the tree) - and plug in the video stream from the new cam. I'm sure the actual process is a bit more complicated than that - but that's the theory. His priority was to get the cam streaming - and he did that!
I don't think he had an opportunity to look at the sound, so we're still hearing the audio equivalent of a blue screen - which is a loud buzz. There is still more work to be done, and I expect Ken will be looking to see if there's anything he can do that will get us less buzz and maybe some eagle sounds. But until he and Richard have an opportunity to confer about various standard and outside-the-box things to check and try, and Ken has an opportunity to get over to Delta - I'm afraid that unless the eagles decide to put the wires back together again for us - we'll have a hum. And while Richard and Ken are great at finding ways to work around various problems, I really don't know if they'll be able to solve this one.
(I should mention that I don't think the eagles are to blame for our losing the other cam - it's probably more likely that a branch damaged the cable during one of the wind storms, or something of that nature. But we can't go into the tree to check - and they can, so maybe.... )

Thanks for the update on the sound, Judy B. We may just have to "remember" the sounds from last year's Jet Maybe it is a blessing in disguise

Q: Is it normal for both parents to be away and the egg to be left unattended?

Hi meadowoodmama. Welcome to the Delta 2 nest. There is always a possiblity that one of the parents is within eyeshot of the nest. There could be one up in a branch that we cannot see with the cam angle.

It seems that the parents leave the egg for fairly long periods of time. Looks like it would get too cold.
Just worrying to much, I guess.
