I think it was around 7:17 am as I was dashing out, I saw something flying into the upper branches - too fast to make an ID. Quick check of the CU cam shows no raccoons or other creatures in the nest.
Looks like another windy day at Delta.

Good morning, cococat! I got a s'cap as it left - definitely not an adult eagle as no white head or tail. I'm not sure if it's a juvie or a hawk - both are occasionally seen in the area.

WoW Judy great catch! I tend to agree it is either a juvie or hawk. My guess is the juvie. I am still ever hopeful the nest will get used by the eagles.

Oh - thank you, beans! I was watching but couldn't really get a s'cap where you could see them and it wasn't a good time for me to try a movie!
And I'm also hoping to see some nesting activity soon - fingers crossed.

Hi Delta OWLettes!
I thought I'd let you all know that there's nothing to tell you about
I didn't even see Ma or Pa today but there are several other adults and lots of juvies in the area. It was probably a juvie that you saw JudyB and Cococat. The other day I was out and about and had a bit of spare time which I decided to use looking for a possible 2nd nest. I made a point of driving the back roads which gave me a site-line to the fields across the street where there are several trees that could support an eagle nest, but I didn't find anything. There is a remote possiblity that they could choose any one of the trees in the opposite direction which would be in behind the airport or even into the golf course, but I have no way of checking there without trespassing. I even drove by Bandit's old nest, more to make sure they weren't trying to use that thing, and it's just as sorry looking as it's ever been. So if this pair is building another nest they are being down right sneaky about it.
I'm with all of you though...I would be ecstatic if they would all of a sudden start fixing up their nest and getting down to the business of laying eggs and raising a couple of healthy eaglets. So my ,

Thanks for the update on the situation at DeltaOWL Judy.
It is a huge relief to know that the old Delta1 nest isn't being used by anyone. That nest was a disaster area.
Maybe Mom and Dad DeltaOWL have decided to take a year off from nesting after two failed attempts. ....but, it would be nice if someone would take an interest in it.
