That is fantastic to see! Gee, I hope this year things work out. This is a wonderful nest to view. Sometimes the winds blow so strong that you can feel the Eagle's emotions.

Thanks, Donna - I missed that - one of the disadvantages of watching out of the corner of the eye while working.

8 am
Nest is empty - and much less windy than yesterday.

Edited to add a picture of the nest - it's a cloudy day, which makes the detail on the nest stand out - and will make it easier for us to tell if the adults are doing any renovations this fall.

I'm afraid this raccoon is going to be causing a lot of trouble if we don't send her on her way soon. The reason why she's so fat is that she's been going after the chickens in the area including the 6 we used to have outside the Barny barn at OWL (someone brought them in a while ago and we decided to keep them for esthetic purposes only - we haven't started rehabbing chickens Titter). There are several large live traps set out in the hopes of humanely trapping the raccoon family and, rest assured, nothing bad will happen to them - they will all be relocated.

i sure hope they can be caught and relocated. Because we have lost Sidney and Hornby now, I am very hopeful for our Delta O.W.L. pair and I don't want anything to scare them away!

Thanks for the raccoon update, jewill - and I'm hoping they're successful. Raccoons are cute, but I'd be much happier if the family was somewhere other than near the nest or O.W.L.

The nest has a golden tone this morning - interesting how different it looks in different light.

And the patches of sun and clouds add interest to the WA view as well - though it would be nicer with an eagle or two.
