Happy blue skies to everyone. I know these eagles are not the ones I keep popping in to see - BUT - today we have sunny blue skies in powell river and decided to have lunch outside. Looked up and saw 13 eagles just floating in the sky. What a sight! 4 adults. They definately were enjoying the sunshine today after our little cold and foggy spell. Last week they were very plentiful at the Sliammon Salmon Hatchery - probably last run of fish for the season.
Anyway, have a good day - just wanted to share with other eagle lovers.

Hi everyone! Glad to hear you saw eagles in the area, Gail - and Sharon, I agree - it's always magical to see them, and I feel very lucky to live in a place that has eagles (though not as many as there are in Delta!)
3:36 pm
A minute or two ago I saw an eagle flying away from the nest, probably from higher up in the tree, though I'm not sure of that, but the trajectory was right. The white tail was clearly visible. Another confirmation that they are around, even if they aren't spending time in the nest (at least while we're watching).

There's an eagle perched on one of the branches below the nest (bottom center of the screen) - and it looks as if he or she is having lunch!

12:39 pm
A crow (or similar fairly large dark bird) just flew into the branch at the far right, then looked as if it might have moved to the end of the branch where the eagle is. It's very windy, so I have the sound way down - haven't heard anything. Just saw another dark bird - or maybe the same one again.

Judy, I was just coming in to mention the sighting. I didn't see it land but there it is! What looks like a crow landed on a nearby branch up to the right but seems to be gone. I'm out now for a 1:00 appt. Glad you're here too!

1:15 I just returned, turned the cam on to see the eagle then it flew off to our lower right. Was there a good while. I thought there might have been some brown marking on the head. Maybe just white feathers blowing.

Hmm - I was seeing shadows, but hadn't thought about brown markings. My sense was that the eagle was alert while eating - but fairly relaxed while sitting there - but it is hard to tell.
