I have only checked in and out this afternoon. There was an eagle incubating every time.

5:37 One of them, maybe Derek returns to the eggs and settles to incubate.

5:45 to 5:55 The incubating parent, Derek I think, leaves the eggs and stands on perch. Savannah calls out and then moves to the eggs. Derek goes in search of food in the pantry corner. He finds what he is looking for and returns to the nest box to eat. Savannah checks the eggs and then settles to incubate again.

The eggs really show up in this light.

Great pictures of the eggs, Donna! I checked in a few minutes later....

6:01 pm

Looked as if Derek was checking with Savannah before perching for the night.

He was up on the top perch a minute or two later, and now at 6:06 pm I really can't see either of them - it does get dark quickly.

Glad to hear they've been incubating more steadily - perhaps a combination of the weather and the arrival of a second egg. Smile

Good morning everyone! Same here with the incubating - someone seemed to be on the eggs each time I checked in yesterday afternoon.

9:04 am

Derek (I think) stood up in the nestbowl, did a flap then backed off and went to the edge of the nest. Savannah was perched there and both flapped once or twice, then Savannah went to the nestbowl to take over incubation while Derek did some strenuous flapping on the side of the nest. I'm at work so don't have sound on - but going on appearance alone I'm thinking it looked more as if he was shaking out the kinks - and maybe shaking off some water - than warning off one of the other resident eagles.

9:08 am

Derek has wandered off; Savannah is incubating.

9:50 am

I didn't get a s'cap, but a few minutes ago I saw feet at the top of the screen as if someone was standing behind the tarp between the wooden structure and the green bush - and it looked as if they might have stooped down and put something in the habitat - so perhaps their next meal is ready to be found.

Savannah left the nest just before that happened, and someone arrived a few minutes later and is incubating. I think it's Savannah, but haven't seen a side view, and that's how I can most readily tell them apart (Derek has a white spot on his right wing, and his feathers seem lighter when seen from that angle - though sometimes Savannah also appears to have a white area, and feather colors depend a lot on the light).

I think there may have been a switch right after your post, eaglet. I came back to my desk just before noon - and as Savannah (I think) was taking over, Derek was perched on the edge of the nest structure, flapping wildly to get the water off his wings, and managed to do a poop shot in mid flap - quite funny to watch!

12:09 pm
Adult (Savannah?) is up digging in the nest, carefully standing over the eggs as she does so, to keep them dry.

The "zoomer" is giving us a nice look at one of the adults spread out to keep the nest cup area dry. I think this is Savannah, but it's harder to tell when they're wet.

Adult up, gives a couple of calls, and off he(? - I'm not sure now) goes. Good look at the eggs, but this view doesn't let us know if the other adult is on his/her way.

1:12 pm
Adult approached gingerly, and settles over the eggs. I think this is Derek, and am guessing this was a switch - but am not sure.
