Sequoyah 2012 - National Wildlife Refuge near Vian, Oklahoma
http://suttoncenter.org/pages/live_eagle_camera
There are two cams, streaming but no sound, giving different views of the nest.
The nest is in the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, near Vian in eastern Oklahoma, near the Arkansas border. This is the Sutton Center's second nest with a cam (their original nest cam features a pair that nests about 125 miles away, at Sooner Lake in north central Oklahoma). The cam page above shows two views of Sooner Lake and two of Sequoyah.
The pair laid three eggs in 2011, though one disappeared before the cam came online. The two remaining eggs hatched, and both chicks fledged successfully; the younger was given a GPS transmitter, and you can follow his travels here.
2011-2012 Season:
- cam online: by September 12 (initial posts on 2011 thread - here) Note this cam is online year round.
- eggs laid: December 17 at about 4 pm; December 20, 4:29 pm; seen December 24, ~7 am (laid overnight)
- hatched: January 24, 10:47 am (38 days); January 25, 12:56 pm (36 days); January 29, 4:38 pm (36 days)
- sad news: #3 died, probably from exposure, March 8, early morning, at age 39 days; he or she was behind in development (though mostly holding his own and getting plenty of food), and unlike the older eaglets, did not have feathers to protect himself from the rain and sleet overnight. His body was fed to the remaining eaglets the evening of March 10. Rest in peace, young one.
- branched: #1 4.9.2012 at 7:49 am.
- fledged: #1 4.14.2012 (81 days); #2 4.17.2012 (83 days)
- last seen: Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The next two days, there was an eagle on the branch, but could not be identified as one of the juvies or one of the adults because of the distance and then only a very small part was seen on the CU cam.
- tracking:

(s'caps by CAL04 and JudyB)
February 1 - 1st Hatch and a Feeding

Two Letts being Fed -February 14 2011

Resting in the nest bowl; transmitter on back is visible - April 17 2011

Debs,
She is really spending quite a bit of time at the nest. She looks good and your snap of her in flight is awesome. One of the Sequoyah area juvies is near Decorah, Iowa in the last few days. Thought for sure it would go east and not north.
Looking forward to the additional scaps.
