TH - Looks like there may only be one egg in the nest now. Not sure what's going on.

There were two eggs yesterday afternoon...

Kate555 posted a s'cap at 11:30 last night of K81 moving a piece of shell.

I guess we'll have to see what's going on when it's light out.

5:41 both sleeping.

'Morning, eaglet. Thanks for all your pictures here!

It's hard to know for sure, but from the video it looks as if they may have lost an infertile or otherwise undeveloped egg. Sad

I just checked my records, and in the six years that I've been following this pair, they've always laid two eggs, and three years both hatched, and the other three only one hatched. I'm pretty sure that they have lost eggs before the hatch date in the past, though all my summary page has is the number of eggs, hatches and fledges for each nest, so I'd have to go to the annual summary page for more details. Which is way more information than anyone wants - sorry. very embarrassed

There is a slim chance that there was a hatch - but there seemed to be more liquid than I'd expect. Guess we'll know for sure come morning.

Hi Judy! Thanks for going back in your record and sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it.
I'll keep an eye on things for the next hour or so, then I'll be out for a while.

Awww I have heartbroken to learn K81 & K82 have lost an egg so sad. I hope this remaining egg hatches without incident. The ravens do lots of dive bombing at this nest I wonder if this played a roll at all. Guess we may never know.

I thought someone was a miss on March 24
adults seemed upset in the morning and
afternoon....this is my last picture of both eggs
just my own observations

These captures are from March 24

Eta I watched the video and it looks to me like there was an attempt to stimulate perhaps an eaglett; liquid is seen and then later you see egg shell being removed.

Hi Debs! I hope the second egg hatches at TH too.

This was posted on the IWS FB page:

Institute for Wildlife Studies
It appears that the first chick hatched at the Two Harbors nest last night, but did not survive. The second egg should hatch tomorrow and the first of the West End eggs should hatch in the next day or so.

And this was on their forum posted by Kate5555:

Here is Dr. Sharpe's take on the first egg from TH last night:

10:39 iwsciber: I think the chick actually hatched last night but didn't survive. As much as 81 was moving around he could have stomped on it.
10:42 iwsciber: The chicks are wet when they hatch.
10:51 iwsciber: No way to tell how the chick died because we never saw it and it is probably buried in the nesting material now.
