Daily Summary - Friday - April 27, 2012

Happy Birthday to our youngest chick who turned 6 Weeks old today

We observed two other important milestones in the growth and development of the chicks; both chicks were observed self feeding today and Lil the youngest chick even mantled a meal tonight to protect the meal from Mom.

Weather wise it was a pretty good day today there was a bit of rain earlier in the day but it cleared off nicely for the rest of the day. The daytime high was 59 F (2 pm) with sunny skies & a wind from the NW at 12 mph.
Currently at 930 pm it is 52 F Feels like 46 with a wind from the NW at 10 mph and there is a Freeze Warning for tonight (we call it a Frost warning here). Temperatures will dip to the mid 30's and the warning remains
in effect till 9 am Saturaday morning.

Number of Feedings: 3 + 2 self feedings (self feedings were very small)
Number of Meals delivered: 2

Food was not plentiful today as we only saw two deliveries, however, the chicks appeared to have good in and output.

Mom returned to the nest just before dark tonight and she tucked the kids and herself in too~~ so we expect she will spend the entire night with the chicks.
