Maybe this is a silly question but I will ask it anyway. PuzzledWhy am I seeing such a dark picture here? It can't be dark in Maine yet and maybe this nest is in the shade so is a bit shadowed.?? Does any one know if there is a reason or is there something wrong? Darlene, I was hearing an eaglet too this morning when I checked and I am still hearing one near but there is no one in the nest or camera view (that I can see in the dark).

There is something wrong with the light filter on the cam. Staff were trying to reset it a couple of times a day but then it would get so bright you couldn't see anything so I think they are just leaving it now. Hopefully they can fix it or get a new cam for next year. They also had IR before but that has burned out and can't get up the dead tree it is in to replace it. I don't know what their plans are for that but sure hope they can get IR going for next year. I am sure even if we don't have IR for next year that we will at least be able to see the nest until it is dark there. It's been very frustrating this year. But I don't blame them for not doing anything with the cam the last few years because the nest hasn't been successful. Now that it has been, I sure hope they get everything in good working order for next season.fingers crossed

I adopted the Delta2 nest!

Thanks for the pictures and reports, Debs, Darlene and Jean, and I'm looking forward to watching the videos!

According to kitcatldy on the Maine forum, one of the adults brought food for Eden around 12:55 pm. I think she was eating for 40-45 minutes, then spent some time perched on the Y branch at the back of the nest before flying off around 2 pm.

Here's a s'cap from the feeding

and a two minute video:
Video Camera Lunch for Eden

- and it figures that the nest is looking beautiful now that Eden is out and about.

I can hear her at times, so think she's nearby still.

3:22pm...........Thanks for the warm welcome Debs and Judy! I liked your videos showing Eden eating and hanging out on the Y. I see that it is quite windy there today. Is it often windy there or is this something unusual? Eden does seem to have good flying skills and her take off from that branch was strong! Right now the nest is empty and I do not hear her at all.............just the occasional crow.

Pick your best screen capture as my email only has so much room.

When submitting your screen capture please include the following information:

Your screen name and contact information
In the subject line of your email state that its for the "HWF Screen Capture Contest" so that your email does not go into the junk or spam folder
When your capture was taken and at what Hancock Wildlife Nest (although we will likely be able to tell please include this information)
Images must be JPEG saved and no larger than 500 pixels
The screen capture must be "raw" without any enhancements; text or animations

Thanks for participating and we look forward to seeing your beautiful screen captures!
