Hi Castor!Hello I don't think they will examine the egg if they remove it. They usually just say it wasn't viable. In this case the egg was laid 4 days after the second one. Quite a span of time so it probably wasn't a fertile one. Don't Know

Mom has been away from the nest more than not. At one point both she and Pappa stopped at the nest to check on the little ones. Here's a serious of s'capes I got today:

7:48pm- Mom stops back at the nest to check on the little ones.

7:54pm- Mom returns with pappa. Both check on the chicks and then leave.

11:17pm- Pappa flies in with more food. Sits on the edge till Mom pecks at him and tells him to leave!

10:08pm- Mom is feeding the chicks from out of the nest.

10:08pm- Digging deep with Mom's wing hanging over pot again.

10:14- Feeding is over, Mom is resting in nest and the chicks are in the front corner. Looks like they are chewing on the new growth of plant.
