2:30 pm Tuned in to see two inert blobs on the nest - Stu in his bowl and a headless fish to his left. Nothing happening so "listened" to chatters. They said that Mum had been feeding him lunch earlier but with the rain she
decided to shelter him. Stu wanted to continue eating but Mum flew off when he resisted her "mumbrella" offer.
3:20 pm Stu still in bowl facing away from cam. Dad flew in and looked around, then grabbed the fish and left Stu
standing up wondering where his lunch went.
3:41 pm No worries, Mum came in with what was left of the fish and fed Stu for 3 or 4 min., then she was off again, so really not much of a feeding.
A bit of stretching and preening, I did not get a good look at Stu's crop but he eventually laid down again facing away from cam. I did not watch continuously, not much happening right now.
4:15 pm Parent 's quick flyby
4:24 pm Stu up and stretched, down again
4:49 pm The most energetic wingersizing I have yet witnessed, but short-lived. Preening followed a minute later.
Now I can see that there is little or no crop showing. Too bad he did not get much of that fish.
5:00 pm Still preening and looking around, no doubt ready for his big meal of the day, hope it comes in. Just wrote this and see both parents on nest with prey, Dad off and mum immediately feeds her hungry youngster.
Lots of "red spagetti" if you get the picture. I'm up too late again and now

Here is a video with a part from yesterday.
After a little wing flapping, parent arrived with food. It is very special to see that the parent take little pieces fish and let it fall in front of S2. Start at 2.03 min. She did not feed S2. She walk behind S2.....maybe to stimulate S2 to walk forward and eat? But S2 has more fun with teasing Mom.....sweet- soft nipping.

Hi and thank you very much, Anna. You bet your sweet bippy I love that video. I was so sorry to have missed that action and it was just as the chatters were describing but I had a hard time believing that there would be such a fracas between Stu and Mum.
They have always seemed so calm. To see Stu nipping on Mum to feed him for that long and her insistance that no, she would shelter him from the rain but that was it for now, was quite an eye-opener! Of course she did relent and feed him at 5 pm and he certainly wolfed that down. He will be ready for brekkie today if he hasn't already had something.
e.t.a. 5:12 am Well, since it is still dark in Aussieland, Stu is sleeping soundly in his nestbowl and will not yet have eaten.
I did keep the cam up awhile last evening after I logged off and saw both Mum and Dad on the nest briefly, Dad first to check for nestovers (none there) and then Mum came in after Stu had been up playing with something white for a short while. Mum was nestorating until she flew off, stage left at 5:43 pm - again this was last night.
5:26 am Sleeping eaglet, no change I have to get some chores done!

Bluebird1, I don`t know for sure if S2 was doing that for feeding. On the Sidney nest I saw sometimes also that they "bite" in the tail feather or so. It is nice to think it is so so I do.:hello:

Absolutely fascinating Anna! Thank you very much. I miss so much because I am always trying to write notes as I watch. I know though that I have never seen anything like that before. I can only think it is a way to encourage Stu to learn to eat on his own... Do others agree?
