good morning aunties! wave

my sister is an event planner and on sunday night, she did a private gig that was a tribute to 9/11.

the MOST exciting thing....she got to meet CHALLENGER, the famous eagle!Sitting eagle

if you don't know his story...

"In a storm in 1989, Challenger was blown from his nest as an eaglet and hand raised by humans. During this time, he experienced too much human contact and was "imprinted". He believes he is a human and is unable to survive in the wild. Two unsuccessful release attempts resulted in Challenger almost dying and eventually being handed over to the Federal authorities."

she was able to watch him fly to the stage (during rehearsal) and said that he was absolutely stunning!Cheers

a 6' wing span. she was completely taken by how LARGE he was. and then she said: "why does he wear a little hat?". Puzzled heh heh. giggle i told her it was a 'mask 'Wink

this is a GREAT youtube clip when challenger was on 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA' a few years ago....
what is soooooooo precious is that he 'screeps' like a BABY!. he never learned how to vocalize like an adult eagle! (such a sweet voice, tho....not quite as...shall we say..."frantic" as our little baby jet.Egg Hatch

she sent me this from her phone: enjoy!

Hello Thanks for the eagle fix this morning newbiE! All we're seeing around here lately is turkey vultures and the occasional Great Blue flying over. Challenger made my day. Cheers

Thank you for sharing Challenger's background with us, newbiE. Such a feel good story. I think Diane Sawyer would like to take him home with her Smile Left thumb up

Hello Aunties wave, just popping in to say hi to you all. Hope everyone is doing well.

newbiE, thank you so much for the story and the link to the video about Challenger . Raining is right, it is a "feel good" story. One the side of the video page there are some other stories about Challenger. I watched this one and it actually brought a tear or two to my eyes, very touching and wonderful photography of him. There's also some familiar faces in the video as well.

enjoy love

Click on image to download I enjoyed that video of Challenger as well, Sandra.

Well, Aunties, I didn't want to leave on vacation without saying goodbye for now. wave We will be leaving on Tuesday but with all the running around I may not get another chance to leave a message.

We'll be back in about a month and I will be checking in as soon as I return to see if ma and pa are working on the nest.

Have a great Fall everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to all. I hope we have an amazing Indian summer.

Goodmorning wave, Have a wonderful 'safe' vacation Raining. Look forward to seeing a couple of photos when you get back. Fall is actually my favorite time of the year, the food, the fall colors, the smell of fall, the cool sunny days......love it all!

And you, you live in a beautiful area for this time of the year! I was in Nova Scotia a few years ago at this time of the year and everybody had the scarecrows in cute costumes and poses, even saw some drunken ones hanging off a balcony. Pumpkins everywhere, it was wonderful Nodding.

These two photos were taken in Oct. 2009. The 1st in Mahone Bay, and the 2nd one In Bar Harbor, Maine.
The fall colors are spectacular Left thumb up.
