wave Arlene ~ Just give a man a couple of tools and a project and they be very happyhappy. Is he the grill
chef or you? I'm betting it's him. I love cooking out on the bbq....food tastes so much better. We haven't used
ours for awhile because of the heat but in a few weeks it should be great for a pool party and cookout.

LOL He was a happy guy fiddling with the bits and pieces!!! He usually does the BBQing but I may have to do a bit with this new one!!! We BBQ Steak and seafood for our Christmas day dinner.....I know....sounds weird but we have turkey and the trimmings another day!!!

Thanks for the link to the Hornby video and that brought tears to my eyes.....remembering C & D that little!!! It was nice to see the Hornby babies grow up like that. I only popped in when they were nearly grown!

Most of us stumbled on Hornby a while ago, either by chance or circumstance
that could have been beyond our control, we really don't know.
We watched the nest, alone in the wind, snow piling up and an eagle within,
we watched in wonder as the eggs were laid and a wet Ma watched over her brood so pure.

Tiny little eaglets looking at the sky and knowing Dad would come with food by and by,
while Ma watched over them, the wind ruffling her feathers, not moving, just waiting,
for Dad to appear. The hero he comes in with a fish and out they pull
their best little dish.

Long later they are gone, flying the thermals, and we look at the view
with feelings so deep and sure that this was just exactly where we wanted to be.
Us and them and the nest and the Island, a place to visit to become quiet,
and now with them soaring, the birdies little are feasting and we watch in wonder again.

Oh dear I am off again!!!! I am going to have to have the Kleenex box beside my computer!!!! I never dreamt to become so attached!!! I can't imagine what next nesting season will be like. Do you get seasoned as the years go on??
That was beautiful Carolyn!!! And yes it sure could apply to WR as well!
It was my sister in law and brother in law who mentioned the Hornby eagles to us. They live in Victoria and had been following the Sidney nest since they got their computer last fall. Then stumbled on the Hornby nest. I think reports were in their newspaper.

I have been checking in with the Australian Sea Eagles from time to time and those little ones really remind me of all the Hancock Babies!!!

Wishing you and Bleu a special day whatever you do!!!

Hi Arlene.....well yes and no about getting seasoned. Maybe you learn to not absorb too much, but you still care a whole lot. And certain moments will always get to you.

I am so glad you enjoy the writing.....actually posted it for you here.

We had an awesome walk - about an hour in this heat, but I saw 3 blue herons, 3 snowy egrets, one little snowy egret, 3 baby ducklings (big enough to not become turtle food thankfully) and then to cap it off.....I saw a little green heron trying to swallow a fish while being chased by a little snowy egret. The heron got the fish, the egret learned to get its own. It was a hoot!

smiles and much joy,
carolyn

wave Jas, Carolyn and Arlene,

Happy to see you this morning!Smile I've been out there in the heat watering the potted plants. I keep moving them farther and farther back so they have less sun time. I lost my butterfly plant to the heatSad so don't want to lose anything else.

I read an article in the paper this morning about a capybara, the world's largest rodent spotted in Paso Robles which is a couple of hours from here. It looked scary but is actually quite cute. They are native to South America. They believe this one was a pet that someone didn't want anymore...shame, shame, shame. They weigh from 100-120#s and grow to 4'!Oh My. That would be scary to see if you didn't know what it was!

wave Hi back Carolyn, Jas, Annie and all who pop in!!!

What an amazing walk that was with Bleu Carolyn!!! I would brave heat and all to see such wonderful waterfowl. What a lot to see out there!! I wouldn't get much walking done I'm afraid....I'd be gaping around!

Oh yes Jas that is a great photo and love the caption underneath too. I always look forward to seeing your postings of good morning and any other time of day!!!!

Annie that is a fascinating article about the capybara. I have seen them before on nature shows but to have them so close to you. Oh yes....shame, shame on anyone who has a pet and is so irresponsible. And how very sad.

I am babying our plants right now to coax them through the season. Some of them are just about done and in October we will be pulling them up. But for now we will enjoy the blooming things!!
Love the expression on the giraffe's face!!
