I heard that Oreo flew in the direction of the dumps, in what direction is the dumps to the nest, is it close to the nest, and is it near water with fish in water.? |

I was hoping Oreo would circle a few times to give us a show, but it was "I'm outta here" as soon as Ralph let her go. Joined: Sun Apr 12, 2009 |

Quote by: jewillHi Raining, Skyclan and Gr8lakes - here's another view of Oreo flying away and the other large bird who joined him. I don't think it's an eagle - my guess is a Harrier - they are very common in the area.

Catus...the dump, or the Vancouver-Delta Landfill, is about 1 mile (as the eagle flies) north of the OWL property from where Oreo was released. It is home to several hundred eagles of all ages and while not the best does provide a somewhat viable habitat for them. On the other hand, Boundary Bay is only a couple of wing flaps away, in the opposite direction, and has lots of fish, waterfowl and other food sources. From the Delta 2 nest site the dump would be about 2 miles or so to the east. Hope this helps. Judy W. |
