Gemini again your doing splendid work ,so realistic..always. I admire your fortitude . But why can't you go down by the water?? I suppose it seems kinda like a factory of sorts there and maybe they have a policy or forbidden things ( ha)
As usual I have enjoyed these pictures and think you take extremely difficult pictures that come out with amazing results. Wonder how many little fellers Mrs. Eagle will have? Keep me in touch and a million thankyou's Gemini. How I wish I could get out there and see these magnificent birds. They do build fomidable nest huh? huge and weigh tons...I kinda miss the old Sidney one where it all started for us.Looks so baren now.But this one is huge too.
_Is it hard to get accommodations near by Gemini,??Someday Iam coming out to see all :-) Keep me posted ok Jean

The nest is within the port of Vancouver. For security purposes you are not allowed to go there unless you have a permit. There's also railway tracks between the park and the LaFarge plant. Their old nest before the 2006 winter storm was a lot more accessible but unfortunately it seems the eagles don't care about our "needs" Titter

As to accomodations... There's a hotel on Hastings not too far but the nest is also only about a 10 min bus ride from downtown where there's plenty of hotels

Oh My...I was just looking at the great pic of the LaFarge nest tree that Richard posted on the home page. I'm so glad that LaFarge saved this tree for the eagles!!! Thank You I was wondering if this tree doesns't have a rather slender trunk and branches to support a big, heavy eagle's nest not to mention jumping, flapping ,large eaglets. Just an observation. Keep up the great work, LaFarge!! We and the eagles and the tree sure do appreciate it!!! Wub

Here's a picture I got of an adult on the Lafarge nest on Sunday April 18th taken around noon.
At the time neither Sandra or I knew that the first egg had hatched.

Thanks, Judy - it is nice to see the nest tree - and see that those occasionally aggravating leaves are serving a useful purpose for the tree! Wink
