This is a Lafarge ground observer post but not for this Vancouver Lafarge nest.
I went to Calgary during the holidays and on the drive from my daughter's house to the Calgary Airport we passed the Lafarge Plant along Deerfoot Trail.
Over the years there has been an osprey platform on the west side of their property. Last summer when I was in that area it didn't appear that the osprey nest was being used and to tell the truth I didn't really pay much attention to anything else on the Lafarge property at the time.
Well, lo and behold, when we drove by on Boxing Day I happened to glance over to the property again and on the east side of their property is an eagle nest structure identical to the one that has been erected at this Lafarge site. My camera was packed so I didn't have time to get any pictures.
I did email my discovery to David and he said knew nothing about the nest being erected but said he will remember to ask those at Lafarge in Vancouver if they know anything about it.
I would love to learn more about this nest structure.
I think it would be very exciting for two Lafarge plants to have eagles on site.
The Calgary Lafarge plant is near Fish Creek Provincial Park and the Bow River which is one of the best fishing rivers in the province.

On Friday morning January 6th at around 10:45a.m. we were at a Rheumatologist's office on 8th Avenue in Vancouver; his office looked out toward the area where the Lafarge nest is located. We saw an eagle flying out over the water - it must have been one of the Lafarge eagles. It was very exciting.
