I just noticed that the camera has been removed from the artificial nest. I know they were talking about moving it last year... Does anyone know if it was moved to a new location, or just removed completely?

I believe they installed a camera in the tree to give a close-up view during nesting, Ian, but don't know if that was the camera that had been on the tower. As far as I know, the "new" camera hasn't started to broadcast, and the PTZ has only been online once or twice so far this winter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that both cameras will be up and running by the time the eagles are likely to lay their eggs - but with technology one never knows.

I didn't get a chance to grab an image, but one of the adults was on the feeding platform just now - flew off North
It turns out that there were to "mover" scripts running - which is why the camera was not stopping long at some spots - I've killed one of them. The other has been dutifully trying to move the camera since last year.
The wireless network from the office to the sand-tower, where the Lafarge Eagles 2 camera is, has been giving problems. Unfortunately this is not something we can deal with directly - the work has to be done by Lafarge's contractors.
The new camera - one identical to the two in ones installed at Port Moody and White Rock (high-res, fixed focus) that was installed in the tree late last year is still waiting to come online. Not sure what the technical problem is. The radio link to its feed has not come online at all in over 8 months.

Thanks for the pictures, gemini - nice to see the nest again! And glad that you were able to see one of the eagles, Richard! I know we've had reports that they are in the area - but it will be nice to see them on cam!
I hope they work out the bugs with the new camera - the views at White Rock and Port Moody are spectacular, and I'd love to have a similar look at our Lafarge family (though the PTZ does an excellent job until they start hiding in the leaves).

I've been watching for a while, and the cam hasn't moved off the nest - Richard, are you still working on the settings?
