Mom is gone and the only sound heard is that of the flying insects near the mic and the occasional vehicle passing by.

Hi, everyone,
I have not posted on the British Columbia site before but just wanted you all to know how sorry I am for the loss of Cherry and the sadness that has surrounded this nest this year. I am a member of the Loch of the Lowes blog in Scotland, and several of our members have been watching this nest along with other ones. It's been a hard night.
Thoughts of healing and peace go out to you all and to Cherry's mother. May 2012 bring us all a better year.

Dear Osprey watchers, So saddened by the lose of Cherry. I also belong to a Scottish, UK blog site, in which our 'Lady' her, eggs did not hatch this year due to all the wet weather. I had been rooting for Cherry and Mum, and watched all the sadness from the start, and was truely hoping that little Cherry, would grow quickly and get strong, so this would not happen. All I can say is better luck next year for your Creston BC site and our SWT site.

SUNDAY, JULY 17, 2011
Recap of the season here at the Creston nest.

PEPPER
1st egg laid May 10. Hatched June 16. Pepper went missing July 6th.
Being such a curious chick she was constantly laying at nest edge and may have fallen or accidentally knocked from the nest.
CHERRY
2nd egg laid May 13. Hatched June 18. Cherry was killed by ravens July 16th.
Because of Dad's disappearance on July 10th as the food provider Mom, out of necessity, became both protector and food provider. Her responsibility for providing food caused her absence which left Cherry unprotected during the attack.
GUS
3rd egg laid May 17. Hatched June 22. Gus died June 27.
Being so much younger and smaller than his siblings he couldn't compete for food. His weakened state caused his death.
A very sad ending to this year.

6:22 a.m.
It's very difficult to watch the camera today but I feel it's important to watch for the activity of the adults so that we know when they will abandon the nest. Is it possible that Mom will continue to come to the nest until it's time for her to migrate ?
Mom has just now returned to the nest. She went straight over to the piece of fish she had left on the nest last night and began eating bits of it.

6:47 a.m.
Mom is still on the nest. The piece of fish wasn't very large but she has only been nibbling at it. It's as if she's still waiting for someone to feed.
