JKR and all following this nest. The female, now maybe fishing....I've been recording. When a female has to fish..can't get worse. The only hope, and we can hope, is a male in the area will help her!! It's documented, male's will help nests in trouble....they won't defend, but will help with fish.
This could explain, her "intruder" responses , also the small pieces of fish she's managed to get on the nest today.
The last fish, she may have caught herself...she was off the nest for while, but didn't look wet when she returned.
She just got back with more fish...feeding C1...A great study.
Hard as it is, I observe, just for these moments....hope..heart warming .

Thanks Jazzel, we can only hope Dad makes an appearance tomorrow. I'm wondering if he's somewhere within Mom's vision and she got the fish from him ? We can only hope.
6:44 pm
Meal is over and Mom has again flown off the same direction she took off previously. Cherry is still chirping up a storm.
6:56 pm
Cherry is chirping steady and wandering around the nest again.

7:03 pm
Mom came screeching into the nest and kept calling and Dad suddenly arrived as well but came in empty taloned.. He stayed a few seconds and flew off again.
Mom is still chirping at him even though he's gone.

7:05 pm
Mom has finally calmed down and Cherry has as well. She's moved closer to Mom.

JKR, I saw that, and have it recorded. The question is...resident male??? These observations are a long study, before conclusions...then always subject to change....the more we observe the more we "hope" we know. Then, "Oh no, got it wrong", that's ok, mistakes are good teachers, often the best.
Compare Creston to Calgary...I know you observe both...please.. post

JAZZEL, we'll have to keep an eye on the head markings of the male if he arrives again. Dad has a very distinct marking so he is easy to identify.

7:03 a.m.
Cherry is alone on the nest. I didn't have the camera up to see when Mom left.
Cherry has been preening and seems quite content -- not peeping like she was last evening when Mom kept leaving her.

7:18 a.m
Mom arrived home. Cherry quietly watched her come in with no peeps to indicate she was expecting any breakfast.
Maybe she's already been fed today. I didn't have the camera on earlier this morning to catch any action.

8:04 a.m.
Mom has flown off twice since I took the above s'cap at 7:18 a.m. Cherry so far has stayed away from the rim of the nest.
