It's been raining and all I can say is, I'm glad Mom has decided to keep the chicks undercover.

JAZZEL, I don't think the biologists at the wetlands study the osprey to even know whether or not the nesting habits of these two are different from other osprey .
When the season started I checked back in the old archives to compare adults in case we had any new ones. These are the same two so I'm not surprised their behaviour is the same as last year.

6:07 pm
Dad arrives home with a fish.

6:08 pm
Dad flew off and Mom is eating a few pieces.
Now the chicks are up wanting to be fed. Mom is certainly making sure she eats first.
6:09 pm
Mom moves in closer and begins the feeding. I must say she is good about making sure they each get fed.

6:58 pm
Mom gets up and begins another feeding from the leftover fish.

6:59 pm
Both chicks are being fed once again along with Mom having a share as well.
These chicks are so much the same in size that it's very difficult to know who is who. It's as if O1 took more than a day to develop and O2 was more than developed when he hatched. As long as they both get fed that's the main thing and so far Mom is doing a great job of doing that even with all her other quirky habits.

7:06 pm
Feeding is over. Mom now brooding.

5:01 AM
A damp looking morning at the nest.
Mom is doing some chattering while brooding.

5:32 am
Mom was up slightly to reposition herself and both chicks are active and looking great this morning.
The egg is still intact.

Mom has been up cleaning the bowl.
The egg is still intact as far as I can tell.

8:14 am
I'm catching the end of a feeding and the chicks are to the point of losing interest in food.

8:16 am
Mom is doing a bit of tidying before brooding again.
Looks like someone had delivered a mushroom cap to the nest sometime this morning.
