O1 is also being fed. Neither chick is at a stage of holding their heads still for long and it takes Mom a bit of work to get the food in.

Mom is still brooding.
It's nice to see some sunshine today.

I find this camera odd --- some days I have sound and others I don't. It's the only camera that does that --- anyone else ??? Puzzled

2:36 pm
Mom is suddenly up off the chicks and in protective mode. Something came too close to the nest and she is warning it away.

She resumes shading the chicks and doing a few nestorations.

Mom is not settling at all this afternoon. She's up and down continually and seems agitated about something.

A wide piece of weed has shaded the one chick and the other is bobbing around in the nest.
Mom had moved that piece of weed a couple of times but it keeps falling back into the bowl.

Mom's still antsy about something. The two chicks are sleeping through most of Mom's pacing around the nest.

Mom has finally moved the weed away from the one chick and now he's popped up his head begging but that didn't last more than a moment before he's asleep again.

Mom seems to want to do anything but brood for some reason. She has also been chattering non-stop. For that reason alone maybe it's a good thing the mic isn't working.

JKR, I have the sound problem. It's the cam. PC & Mac, all browsers.

As for the behavior on this nest, just as it was last season. I don't know what the cause is, I'm trying to figure that out. The nest site has biologists, I wonder why they don't post any explanations or information...

If you go back to this topic in the 2010 archive, starting on page 1, you will see the cam site's 2009 nest history, then their update for 2010.

The only difference in observing this season, is the cam was online before the eggs hatched, so we are seeing the early nesting.

Check the archive, this nest looks like it's a copy of last season. So strange. I hope we can get some answers this season.

Mum finally dragged that weed away - and we get a clear view of the chicks!
I agree with how antsy she is - up and down - the poor chicks must be getting a rough ride in there, the number of times she wriggles back down on them.
