Thanks One and All for keeping track on this nest yesterday. I hated running off to work just as the hatch was getting underway and I am shocked by the way this poor little one came into the world. That's a rough way to start a life when your parents run off on you like that. Let's hope for a better day today.

Mom is preening.
I went back to bed so I haven't be here long enough to see the chick this morning.


8:05 am
Mom has been doing a lot of squirming around but hasn't got off the chick and eggs to give us a peek.

Mom was preening her breast and pulled out a white fluffy feather.


She's wiggling around again and slightly standing but has her back to the camera blocking any view of the chick and eggs.

Mum is acting as though something is flying around - but I can't see what.
She seems to have pulled a white feather out of her chest?

Good Morning Pat... it could be an eagle that Mom keeps watching for. If I recall last year the girls at the CWMA told me they have a nest not far from this one.

Mom got up and flew off.
The chick takes awhile to wake up and then he's begging for food.

Mom returns and resumes brooding. The other two eggs are still intact. No feeding yet this morning unless it happened before I turned on the camera.

Mom is up for a moment to preen.
The chick is sleeping and he doesn't seem to be as active as I would expect him to be today. I don't know if it's because of the lack of a feeding today or if he's a weaker chick but I hope he'll be okay.
