Hi Sue! Been checking here every day, was wondering if you have any news you can give us on the nest, parents and eaglets? Not much time in my little world these days to watch most nests I want to, let alone postRoll eyes

Really interested to hear anything in regards to this nest...Thanks Smile

Hi Sue...

Ditto what Debbie/tuckerfan said.

I hope everything is alright and that is why you have not posted.
I pray that is not the case. Rather, perhaps you are very busy.

Oh, this family has been just the epitome of success. Mom and Dad are very predictable in their routine of feeding, raising, and supervising the eaglets as they grow. The three we have in this nest this year, 2012, are significantly bigger at this stage than the four from last year. I apologize that my enthusiasm is not as great this year, only because I was so whisked away by the phenomenom of four last year. However, these eaglets and their parents are a great privilege to observe from my home office window.

All three are doing well. Every morning, they have their backs to the sun. This is a little different than the four from last year. Last year, it seems like they would face the sun. Perhaps because of the excessive rain this early part of June, they may really like to soak the heat over more of their bodies in the early morning. Just my speculation.

The biggest one is doing aggressive flying attempts. The second and third are not. I know there is a lazy third eaglet who prefers to lay around most of the time, as is pretty typical.

Mom and Dad are around every day, but they stay on the nearby snag trees.

Next year, 2013, if all goes well, there will be a book published on this particular nest, with last year's four chicks, by the biologist who photographed them all last year. She has a wonderful reputation in my area of the world. Her photography is exquisite.

Here is their typical stance every morning.

I can't figure out how to do the image. I'll have to go back through the instructions and figure it out later. Sorry about that.
