Wow, Sue, what a catch - and such a privilege to live near enough to capture that moment - though in the case of a bear, you may not think so!
Thank you so much for sharing that with us - I must admit that I have never counted a bear climbing the tree as one of the hazards to eagles Smile

The third video of the group that is about three minutes long shows a lot of the movement of the bear. I was fiddling too much with the camera to realize what it really was. It was only after catching the fourth video and then going back to look at the third one was I able to see the size and movements of the bear. I've watched it several times and still can't believe it.

Sue, I just watched all 4 videos and that was truly terrifying and amazing. So relieved everything seems to be okay today.

Thanks for posting this at EA Thread.

Sue, That was such an amazing set of videos. Hopefully the bear will not return. It looked pretty good sized. Thank goodness all is well today.

I am eager to hear what the biologist has to say about the night visitor.

The biologist checked the ground to evidence of the nest being torn apart. But everything looked fine. All four eaglets are acting normal except for Joker. He's moved around a bit, but he has stayed more down in the nest more often than not. I tried to get pictures today of all four, but all you could see was his little head in different spots, but still down in the nest. I'm just glad they are all there.

Thank you for the follow-up on the condition of the nest, Sue. Hopefully you will see little Joker moving around more tomorrow. Is the nest close to the old Marshall Grand road?

Sue do you think Joker is acting slow and down because he was the one that ate the deer tail am I right or mistaken because a deer tail would be harsh food for an eaglet at that age and may be hard for his to digest. just my opinion what does the Biologist say about Joker

It could very well be Joker that ate the tail the other day. I thought it was him, but that would make sense. He was up and around this evening, but still not as much as the others. I can't believe what I've seen with this nest this past week. A head zoologist from the university will be inspecting the area tomorrow morning with the biologist. It's good to know the nest withstood the bear's attempts. That also helped to see just how large this nest is. All is quiet at the nest tonight, thankfully.
