For some reason I thought this was a locked thread. This nest of 4 is awesome. There are so many great branches for the eaglets to branch on when it is time. They sure look healthy. Great scaps, Sue.

The babies are too busy preening with their heads bobbing up and down. I can't get a photo of all four this morning. I'll keep trying. They are just loving the sun hitting them first thing in the morning. Still room in the nest, but it's going to get really crowded as summer progresses.

May 8, 2011, These eagles babies seem to grow overnight. During today's sunny afternoon, the biggest one mustered up the courage to climb up almost on the edge while mother was present. I was suprised at its size. We've managed to get the new video camera fugured out and began recording just as rain hit. Within moments, all babies were hunkered down. What we recorded was uneventful. Their feathers are changing and getting darker, and the largest of the four seems to spend a lot of time preening. I did see one of the other ones moving quite a bit of mossy-type short branches around itself.

May 9, 2011, A lot of sudden activity with a lift in the cloud cover. Babies are fed and moving around. The camcorder is running. I hope to catch a few snippets of all four that I can post later today. They are getting bigger and darker by the day. Rest assured, I still see all four. It's just a matter of capturing them on camera for everyone else to see. They are thriving. One of the parents brought in a huge chunk of something. I could see two long legs, but the rest was indiscernable. It looked to be an animal the size of a cat or small dog. Probably roadkill.

The clouds have lifted. The babies are actively grooming themselves. The camcorder has been running in hopes of catching all four. But they are so busy that it just looks like a frothing cup of gray feathers, heads just bobbing up and down. The oldest one is a full month old, if not a few days more. They've also been calling for food, but no one showed up. Looks like they settled back down for a bit. But they are getting hungry.

Meal time! Both parents at the nest with food. They are both at the back facing me, ripping off meat. Three babies are clustered around mother. One baby is firmly planted in front of the father. Camcorder is rolling. The parents both brought separate meals to the nest. The father could only handle so much. After feeding one, he takes off to relax on his favorite dead tree nearby. Mom is still at it, feeding the kids.
