The Latvian Couple we watched last year, Gints and Grieta - have not yet both returned!
Only Grieta has visited!

Fortunately - the research institute had put a camera in another nest!
The address is: mms://video1.lanet.lv/ligzda - and it opens in Windows Media Player or similar!

Vainamoinen reported in to the Looduskalender forum:
Information from Latvian forum. The names of eagles are Metra (pronunciation Meetra) and Madis (aka Macho). Word Metra is derived from Metriena, name of neighboring village.

The couple have been busy - and laid their first egg on Apr 27th Grin

Some beautiful bird song can be heard in the background of this nest!

Be aware that these birds practise Cainism - or Siblicide!

Here we have the beautiful Metra sitting on an egg. The foliage in this tree is quite different.

Thanks Pat for another fine nest and Hi Mary :hello:

I was talking to Pat in a PM yesterday and she said she was working on this thread so of course I had to check it out! Another one where there's siblicide like my African Blacks so I'll skip watching that part but I'll be checking in on this one for sure! I love the nest and the sounds and boy these eagles are sure cute! I love them love

I would rather spend my life close to the birds than wishing I had wings
