Welcome to the Victoria International Airport Eagles thread. This is a new nest that is thought to have been a red-tailed hawk's nest a few years ago. There was a nest next to the Pat Bay Hwy. near the intersection of McTavish Rd. that blew down a couple of years ago and the eagles from that nest could be the ones in this new nest by the airport parking lot. I first noticed in Jan. of this year that this nest had been built up a lot and kept watching for signs of nesting. I have seen a pair of eagles perched in the nest tree and in the trees nearby a few times over the past few months and on Sat. I saw one in the nest looking like it was incubating. Please feel free to post pix of this nest and the eagles who are nesting there, and your observations if you visit the nest. This pic was taken on Jan 30th. Click bigger.

As I was approaching the Victoria Airport last Friday Apr. 8th, I saw 2 eagles flying around behind the airport parking lot. They both landed somewhere in the treed area and at first I didn't see them but when I looked through my lens I saw one in the new nest and the other one perched nearby. They called back and forth to each other a few times then the one in the tree flew off towards the intersection of McTavish Rd. and Pat Bay Hwy. where they perch looking over the water. The other one was in the nest incubating. Click bigger.
