The James River Bridge Falcon box was installed in 1991. It is located in the middle of the James River Bridge in Newport News Virginia (very close to the Norfolk Eagles)

James was first observed at the nest box in 1992. He was born in 1990 on the Leg-Mason Building in Baltimore Maryland. His long time mate, Virginia, appeared in 1993 and they nested in the box that year for the first time. Virginia was hatched in 1989 from the Leg Mason building too. James and Virginia continued to use this nest box until she died in 2005.

In 2006 Elizabeth became James' new mate. They have been nesting here every year since then.

2006: 4 eggs, all hatched
2007: 5 eggs, all hatched
2008: 4 eggs, 3 hatched
2009: 4 eggs, 4 hatched but one died a week later in a heat wave

James is the oldest known falcon in the US...he is 20!
