Good Morning nightowl and Judy! I've had the cam up for 1/12 hours now and no sighting of the little chick. Emoyeni has been out of the nest for sometime and just arrived back. Looks like she might be giving the chick a feeding. I will be leaving in 2 hours, so hopefully I can get some s'capes before I shut down the computer. ( I think we have enough caps of Mom brooding, so I'm not capturing those! )

I agree, Jean...there's only so many s'caps we can get of Emoyeni brooding or feeding without repeating them. I always say we can never have enough s'caps, but unless Emoyeni or Thulane do something spectacular, well, I won't post many either. Now when the little guy starts coming out more, katie, bar the door!

2:54PM CAT I don't think there's a parent on the nest, unless they're waaay back in there. I see no movement at all.

The little guy seems to be inching his way out more often now. One of these days, we might actually get to see all of him! (he's 3 weeks old today)



It looks like he's enjoying the sunshine. Even though it's winter in South Africa, I'd imagine the sun on those rocks keeps the nest toasty warm for him. Maybe that's why they hatch in the fall...it would be too hot on the nest during the summer?

He's further out now!

Good Morning nightowl!! Great s'capes of the little one. I guess if I really want to get some good captures I will need to set my alarm to wake up in the middle of the night! Guess that's the advantage you have over me!
Since I have been watching the cam both parents have been in and out. There was also a feeding, but jut a quick glimpse of some white! I am keeping the cam going until it gets dark there. Maybe the little one will step out again!?
