Jude, you should never worry, just observe, and learn...Saco is a teacher.
I was trying to give everyone an understanding of satellite tracking, and how maps are updated. Also note, sometimes a tracked osprey is in an area where the satellite can't pick up the signal, like being in a bad cell phone area...."no service"...and many more issues....
My concern for Saco is hurricane Rina, clearly shown on her Google Earth map. Nothing we can do but observe and learn.

Good words, Jazzel - but some of us do worry. I can see that it might be better if I could detach a bit more - but I'm me.

Judy, I understand, you know I do. You've seen me worry, but I've learned. Now I worry that we can't get help for our birds. I'm not detached, I'm very, very attached to all Ospreys; also all the birds at my feeders as well as the Herons, Kingfishers, ducks in my river...the Coopers Hawk, Red-tailed Hawks...and all the Turkey Vultures (my second favorite bird), yes, I love TV's, beautiful birds!!!
I don't name birds, they are free. Birds are not pets, they are free...I want to keep them them free...safe from humans...nature will take them, that's ok...I worry about the human problem...hope you understand

Hey Gerard,
I still can't see the nest, which means we have no idea yet if the grass on the nest is growing.
I'm guessing it is though. We have enough rainy periods to keep it growing and it's got all the sunshine it can get on a good day.
I'll keep an eye on the views over the next week. I may have to take a drive up some day in early November.

Mornin' everyone
Sorry I haven't been here but have been in the midst of a huge project, along with trying to follow the Whooping Cranes.

Well, I sure hear you, Judy! ..... everyone is different and entitled to feel as they wish.
As for me, I am both worried and concerned or whatever you would like to call it.......as I do believe there is reason for it.
I don't like the idea of her going thru the DR and I do believe that, if she were moving after the last update, she could have been heading into some rough weather.
That being said, I will put on my happy face instead of a worry once I know she is settled and through the turmoil areas.
Jazzel, as to giving names.........no, they aren't pets but I don't see a lot of difference between calling a particular bird a given name or a #. It doesn't change the fact
that it is wild. We are all on the 'same page' with that. ..... After all, Rob is the one who gives names to all of the birds that he tracks.
Hopefully we will hear something today.
(BTW, I don't have Windows 7 but do have Vista and I got Google Earth to load).

The way i see it,Saco is no different then any osprey, she's on a journey and we all hope they make it,it's not hard to get attached as
i am attached to them all and am very impressed with Henrietta, and
have a closer connection to all satelitte tagged as i follow all their journey's.As it goes for Saco, there's a storm and fish farms, and
odd's are odd's and if she follows a slow track thru Cuba
and the Dr. she's likely to run into one or two, however it would be hard to get her with the weather, she's on her own and most osprey's
have fished farms and flown off
and other's are just unlucky, lets just hope that orange line shows her in Venezuela whether she visited fish farms or not,the majority of the
tagged birds are hitting
South America, and Saco i hope you are there also.
