One of the littles made it over to the edge!



I have a suspicion that Franklin and Independence are sharing a "now what?" sort of look!

No clue which one it is, and given that they're only about 12 hours apart in age, it might be either one. He or she does look a little tired after that long journey and appears to be fast asleep.

Looks as if one of the adults is trying to decide how to get back into the nest without stepping on a chick! They both have wing injuries - and I know they fly somewhat, but don't really know if it would occur to him or her to fly to the other side.



Having watched a little longer, I know think it's just one of those one-footed positions adults use from time to time - but for a moment it looked as if she was gingerly putting her toe in, as if to see if the water was cold.

Two of the chicks are still over by the edge. The third chick has tried to join them a couple of times, but hasn't quite made it up out of the bowl.

One of the littles is snuggled under Mom. The other is more adventurous. #1 Just did a long distance pooh which I missed. The evidence is directly behind her.

I think #3 has made it out! He hasn't gone far, but I think he's over the rim!

JudyB...they seem to be very determined little ones! If #1 was exploring they want to be in on it too!

At this feeding a little while ago I even saw a crop on one of the littles.

Thanks for the pictures, Mary! You're right - they are indeed determined.

I'm not quite sure which parts go to which eaglet, but I'm happy to see them all back together again as evening approaches.

They do get themselves in a bunch don't they? It's sometimes hard to tell where one stops and another one starts. Is it just me or does #1 have an exceptionally long neck?? In fact even the littles look like they have longer necks than most little ones that we see.

Until last night I wasn't aware that there was a night cam here! Tonight all the little guys are right next to Independence and sprawled all over the place. Once again, Franklin is in the corner of the nest standing watch!! (11:45 PM EDT)
