Belle is up raises right up and off the egg cup area and then she stretches her leg. Belle pauses and looks down at Lil Paddy
who is stirring or moving a bit in the egg cup bowl of the nest. Lil Paddy is sitting up in the bowl she is hungry and cries and cheeps
while she looks up at her Momma Belle. Belle offers her beak to Lil Paddy a few times and there seems to be good contact too.
Belle pauses for a bit looks all around as if she is watching to see if the intruder is around.
No food is in the nest so anything offered from Mom to babe must be fluids or electrolytes only Day four without any food for Lil Paddy is hard to
watch just tugs at your heart. The beak to beak contact lasted six minutes.

940 to 10 am
Belle resumes incubating; seated high on the egg cup area and is facing 9. Lil Paddy is concealed out of our view as she is tucked
up snug as a bug under Mom's coat feathers and brood patch too. Belle does some tuckaroos draws bedding in and places it all around
herself and the egg cup area too. Very quiet no sounds from the attic and Belle continues to look all around while incubating too.

10 to 1007 am
Belle calls out while incubating and Belle seems alert to something out of our view here coat feathers are puffed up a wee bit too but
Belle remains seated and continues to watch the area too.

1008 to 1012 am
Belle is up off the egg cup area; no longer brooding or incubating. Belle looks down at Lil Paddy and offers her beak to her. Lil Paddy seems
disinterested in the beak. Lil Paddy appears weaker and is low in the egg cup bowl.

1012 to 1045 am
Belle returns to the egg cup and resumes incubating Lil Paddy and the egg. Belle continues to look all around while incubating.

11 am
Belle is incubating; quiet. The ground crew of 4 are at the nest.

1105 am
Belle is up; Paddy is active but appears much weaker today. Lil Paddy body looks leaner and the crop is flat. Lil Paddy cake crying and cheeping.

1100 to 1115 am
Mom offers her beak to Paddy. Paddy makes contact with Mom's beak a few times but Paddy refused Mom's beak too and seems disinterested compared to yesterday.


1115 to 1135 am
Belle is incubating facing 9 oclock.

1137 am
Mom flies out of the nest. Paddy cries out abit and looks up when Mom leaves the nest.

1138 to 1140 am
Paddy cheeps and peeps and is now laying down.

1141 am
Ground crew report indicates Belle is soaring around the nest. Few hawks seen too I believe.

1143 am

Paddy is sitting up abit cheeping and peeping for Mom. Crop is flat. No parent or food in the nest.

1145 am
Paddy is awake cheeps and yawns.

Paddy is laying down in the egg cup area of the nest again. Ooooh Lil Paddy is cheeping and peeping bless her heart and spirit too.
Patty is laying in the egg cup area facing 6 and she is just looking right up at us now.

Paddy is awake and cheeping peeping and crying abit. Trying to move abit but see she is really working hard now to move around the bed; her wee body weaker.

Paddy stirring in the egg cup area. Sitting up and looking all around bless her heart.

Notice that Paddy's wee heart is just a pounding. Respirations are faster. Thrills heard and adult eagle cries. Echum sounds the sad cries of adult eagle heard from vrey nearby.

Belle I think is in the attic; on point guard. Movment from the attic has to be Momma Belle up there sounds like her calls.

Paddy stirs abit and cheeps in response to Belle's calls to her. There is a stick resting in the egg cup area too close to our Paddy Cake

Belle stretches her neck and looks up and towards 9. Lil Paddy is quiet. I wonder if something just flew out of the attic.

Belle continues to incubate and Lil Paddy continues to be quiet.

Awww sweet Paddy cake is awake and is poking her head out from underneath Momma Belle's coat feathers and talking to Mom cheep cheep cheep.

Can hear soft adult eagle cries I think coming from Belle in the attic. More cries coming from the attic. No response calls heard only
the calls from the attic above the nest.

Paddy has not responded to Mom's calls from the attic. Paddy's respirations are rapid and shallow.

Paddy moves her wing abit bless her heart. Respirations are still rapid 48 to 64 per minute on two different counts. Movement is heard from the attic.

Paddy's wee body is working hard now. Rapid shallow breaths continue. Paddy moves her wing abit again. Tears flowing freely now.
Respirations again ranging from 48 to 60 plus a minute.

Belle is perched in the attic. Liberty ?? had been down by the river but just flew in and is now perched nearby to the south of the nest.

More adult calls and cries coming from the attic; poor Belle! Paddy is quiet.

More calls are heard from the attic. Paddy is quiet but moves aa wee bit. Respirations approximately 50.

Belle calls and cries from the attic. Paddy is quiet and layingin the same spot. Paddy breathing is very labored I cannot count the breaths anymore.

Paddy stirs a wee bit; still laying in the same spot in the egg cup area up laying on the slope a wee bit.
Movement and sounds from the attic. Strong gusty wind right now.

Heartbreaking. Lil Paddy has quit breathing. I keep looking for signs of chest movment but there is none.

Momma Belle flew down or into the nest with a fish...Belle body is all puffed up abit too. This is the first meal that is brought to the nest since Lil Paddy cake hatched.

Belle standing close to the egg cup area is looking down at at Lil Paddy several times and cries out.
Belle ...Momma Belle made no attempt to eat the fish she just looked down at Lil Paddy with loving eyes and cries out again.


I keep looking for signs of life but see none at all...Lil Paddy has passed.

Belle is standing in the nest quietly looks up at us or toward the cam .....no attempt made to check on Paddy at all and Belle makes no attempt to eat the fish yet. Momma Belle knows her Lil Paddy is gone. Belle is just standing there quietly looking at Lil Paddy what sadness!

Belle is still standing to the right of Paddy's body and we can now clearly see the fish that she has brought to the nest. Belle looks at Lil Paddy's body periodically but does not try to stimulate her at all; I think Belle already knows Lil Paddy has gone.

Belle is standing up near 11 and the fish remains untouched Belle glances over at Paddy's body alot but does not try to waken or stimulate the Lil Paddy's body at all.

Belle finally takes a couple of fierce bits of the fish and swallows it quickly too ...she must be starving since she has not eaten since March 16. Belle only takes a few bites then pauses and looks over at Lil Paddy's body...a heartbreaking moment for all of us too. Then Belle stops eating the fish and the majority of the fish remains intact and uneaten too.

Belle remains in the nest with Paddy's body and the partially eaten fish. Noise heard in the attic and Belle seems to go into defensive mode puffs up a wee bit then cries and calls out.

230 pm
Belle is still perched up near 11 with her fish. No sign of Liberty since March 16 and no visual of the intruder.

245 to 305 pm
Belle remains in the nest with Paddy's body; protecting her and her nest. I think Belle is saving her fish for Lil Paddy.

Belle exits the nest near 1.

315 pm
Nest remains empty. Noise heard in the attic but no visual.

Mom lands in the nest up near 12. Calls and thrills heard in the area.

Mom is now incubating Paddy's body and the unhatched egg. Mom Belle is crying and echuming too; echuming is a
sad crying sound and often you will hear a young lett do this when they want to be fed.

Belle on nest in brooding position and calling out while remaining seated alarmedly for the last several minutes, looking up most of the whole time....

Mom continues to cry while she incubates Lil Paddy's body and the non viable egg. And we cry with her.

Belle continues to brood so very sad to watch her while she rocks on the egg cup area too as if to comfort Lil Paddy and the egg buddy too.

Momma Belle continues to incubate Paddy's body and is crying out and tracking something out of our view at times.
Belle cries out again several times.

Belle is still in Brooding/Incubating position keeping Lil Paddy and the remaining egg warm.

Noise heard from the attic; intruder must still be perched up there as Belle responds by crying out but continues brooding Paddy's body and does not get up.

Belle is standing up near 6 oclock now calling out and appears alarmed by something.

This is awful - Belle is standing to the right of the end cup area; just crying repeatedly. Looks down at Lil Paddy cake body at times and the none viable egg. The none viable egg shows considerable damage now.

Belle just flew off the nest back a moment later and very upset and calling and looking up towards the attic.
She had been calling, looking around and crying plaintively for some time, standing off the nest bowl. Then she stretched her wings
and shortly after that, flew out, only to return --- as if the intruder had made overtures to land in the nest right after Belle departed not sure?

Belle was out of the nest but returns again. .

Belle starts to eat her fish; ripping, tearing and eating her fish.. looks down at the body of Lil Paddy..so sad!

Intruder lands in the nest inbetween 11 and 12 Belle immediately moves over there and there is a scuffle.
Cannot see the intruder entire body as our view if blocked by Belle. Belle defends the nest yet again and wins bless her heart.

Belle is alone again and has moved over closer to nest center ; mantles the fish then starts to enjoy her fish. Belle leaned forward a few times but quickly pulls back; as if she is offering pieces of the fish to Lil Paddy thenshe realizes Lil Paddy is gone now sure tugged at our hearts.

Belle is making warning noises at the intruder - and then eating the fish.
Trouble is - although she could have wolfed that fish in seconds flat she seemed to be eating chick sized pieces and offering them to Paddy first!

7 to 705 pm
Belle is eating and enjoyin her first meal in at least 4 or 5 days. At times she looks as if she is going to offer Paddy some too then changes her mind.
Belle eats the entire fish bless her heart she was hungry.

707 to 712 pm
Belle has moved over to the egg cup area near nest center and she is tending to the egg cup area; digging with her beak to loosen
up the bedding to make it more comfortable. Belle looks like she is tending to Paddy and even rolled the egg. Bless her heart.

7:12 pm
Belle turns to the side looking and calling..she is so focused and looking down at Paddy. Belle is digging in the nest bowl.

714 pm
Belle sits down facing 9 and resumes incubating rocks from side to side lovingly to find just the right tucked in spot.
Belle is looking down at Paddy's body and calling out softly as if she is mourning the loss of her Lil Paddy.

715 to 720 pm
Our hearts break for Belle as she incubates and broods her beloved Paddy's body and the unhatched egg.
No activity heard coming from above the nest. Belle is looking down at Paddy whimpering her feathers being brushed by a breeze.

Intruder still near; Belle remains in her brooding position but is calling out and looking towards 9 her coat feathers are raised in defensive position.
This fight for the nest is far from over. Poor Belle and Liberty!

725 pm
Soft cheeps and echums are heard not sure if this is Belle or the intruder near. Belle is now facing more towards 11
Belle cries out softly while incubating.

You can see Belle's coat feathers raised up as she cries and echums while incubating; heartbreaking to watch her and listen to her cry.
I wish we could just reach out to her and give her a hug. Belle cries and looks over towards 3. Movement heard in the attic too.
Belle looks over towards 9 and echums and cries too bless her heart.

Belle continues to incubate and make her echum noises. Daylight is quickly fading and isolated showers are expected tonight.

Mom looks to the side and calls... i could hear a noise.. not sure if the intruder perhaps flew to another tree or what.

Mom is quietly looking around remains seated and continues to brood the body of Lil Paddy and the egg.

Mom does seem relaxed..she is incubating facing 9 oclock with her head leaning forward perhaps nodding off a bit.
Heard what sounded like a motor bike in the area.

Belle facing towards 11 continues to brood Paddy's body and she appears to be sleeping bless her heart.

No change Mom is resting while brooding. Wind is picking up. Cam is buffering heard a dog barking otherwise quiet.

Dark now at the nest... Mom is brooding with her head down a bit appears to be sleeping.

825 pm
Belle is still in the same position; it is very dark tonight compared to last night. Belle will likely spend the night in the nest.

8:30 PM
Nest is completely dark now although I can see Belle's white head and a bit of her white tail--facing 10:00
in the position of brooding, nest center. No sounds except for the hum of the cam and mic


930 pm
Belle remains in the same position facing 11 but is in the snoozette position; her head is tucked into her back coat feathers and her wing.

930 1130 pm
Belle while still incubating and brooding Paddy's body and the damaged egg she appeared to be resting quietly and sleeping during this time period.

Many tributes and sympathies were posted thoroughout the afternoon and evening for Belle, Liberty and Lil Paddy and for the family that followed them here ....so only seems fitting to share a couple here that were posted at the end of a heartbreaking day.....

To Debs, Bev, Iona and indeed all who are hurting over the loss of dear, sweet Paddy, whose life was far too short but will be remembered forever.

Mom continue to incubate and brood the body of Lil Paddy and the egg. Bless her heart..she must be so tired.

Belle appears to be snoozing.

2:03 AM
Belle is awake and in the brooding position, facing 10:00, looking from side-to-side. It is quiet on the nest

Belle is sleeping in the snoozette position; her head is tucked inside her back coat feathers and wings.

3:22 AM
Belle woke up, looked around a bit before tucking her head back under her back coat feathers again.

3:23 to 326 AM
Belle awake again and she appears to be checking underneath her. She's facing 11, so not sure what she was doing. Looking towards 11 oclock too
then resettles by tucking her head but into her coat feathers again; goes back to sleep.

510 am
Everytime I checked Belle appeared to be asleep with her head tucked in the same position. Belle must be exhausted.

5:47 AM
Belle woke up, looked around for a few seconds, then tucked her head again. The cam is doing some strange things...it'll get brighter, like daylight for a split second, then go back to normal. It's done that several times in the last few minutes.

Belle appears to be awake, looking towards 3, but motionless.

MOm is awake..it is windy, raining and looks like it may be thunder and lightening abit.

Mom is snoozing again.. has her head tucked in and under her wings. incubating the body of Lil Paddy and the damaged egg .. still dark .

Can hear the rain drops on the cam box. Seems to have let up a bit can see flashes of lightening..
Mom is still in snooze position.

No change... can see flashes of lightening; Raining ..not as heavy...Mom is still in same position snoozing.

No change .. so other sounds heard except that of the rain, wind and flashes of lightening..thunder in the distance.

Mom is awake ..looking toward 3 and up over the nest... flashes of lightening. Rain and wind ...
Mom has her wings partly spread from what i can tell shielding the egg cup area with her body.

Belle has her head up and is looking to 1.

6:37 She continues to look toward 1. She is calm. The wind is blowing.

Daylight is breaking..Mom is incubating facing 10...Storm seems to be quieter now. No other sounds heard and no other visuals.
Mom is in mumbrella position.

Mom is in same position. Facing 10/11 in the munbrella position.
Daylight now. .. can see rain drops on mom's back ..

Mom raised her head and looking out over the nest At 10/ 11.. can see nest swaying slightly. Wind sound worse on the mic. No other sounds or visuals..
Cam just changed to day mode
