Diana - Thanks for your report of sighting a fledge on Sunday by one of the Vanier eaglets. I'm not surprised since my brother and I saw one of them branched out on a limb when we were there on Saturday. So that makes the Strathcona nest and now Vanier as #1 and #2 respectively for being the first fledgings this year at any of our eagle nests for which we have discussion threads.

Hi Karen

I was there 4 times yesterday and for a few hours today.......no more flying from the bird.........maybe he decided it was not that much fun! It is climbing higher and higher up the tree though.

Diana, I'm so glad you were able to see the first fledge, no matter now scary it was for the eaglet! This is such fantastic news! Maybe there will be more activity over the weekend. Do they still have fireworks there?

Hi Tef

We just got back from our nightly check and both Eaglets were still high in the tree............it was getting very dark and I thought they would be back in the nest by now, there was lots of action as Bard on the Beach was just letting out and many boats coming in as well, so lots for them to look at...............yes, we still have fireworks starting on July 28th, I am hoping they will have left the area by then.....thousands of people around.....last year they left on August 4th.
