....neither of the last two works! They go to the last page of the thread.

I think it has something to do with when you click on the little piece of white paper to get the url, you are automatically sent back to the last page of the thread. Somehow that nullifies the link! It doesn't affect anything on the last page of a thread because you are already there!

Well...that's just not going to be acceptable, is it Laugh AND...I had to read it about 5 times to figure out what you were saying - and I'm still not sure - ah geez!

Will you alert the powers that be...or will we learn to live with it? Sure is alot easier than telling someone to go to "Link" and scroll down 7 posts to the one from 'so and so' that says 'such and such' Exclaimation

I'll keep checking back Left thumb up

Thanks for all the 'research' Terry and gemini Smile

wave Slygirl,

Sorry I wasn't very clear! Embarrassed

Basically what it amounts to is you can't link to a specific post unless it is located on the LAST page of whatever thread you are trying to link to! A link to a post on ANY OTHER PAGE of a thread will just take you to the last page of that thread!

I hope that is a little clearer! Smile

I PM'd JudyB so she can tell those who know about these things, what is happening! Maybe it can be fixed! Don't Know Chin Whistling I hope so. You are right, it is much easier to link to a page than to describe how to get to it! Nodding

YUP Left thumb up - they worked, Terry - what are n'owl, I and others I've tried...doing wrong, I wonder Puzzled Chin

You aren't doing anything wrong.... I tried a 4th example and was able to duplicate your problem. We were cross -posting I guess.

the ones that worked were on the Last Page of their threads. the one that didn't Work was NOT on the last page of a thread.

OK, now I'm going to try something, but I have a feeling it's not going to work. This is a link to a post by Terry on page 2 of this thread, third post down. (when I clicked on the URL at the top to copy it, it automatically took me to the top of the last page Puzzled...so we'll see)

Trying this in FireFox.

one using FireFox

Nope, took me to the last page.

Now I'm going to open IE, and see if that makes a difference. Back in a minute.

Trying the same post using Internet Explorer...

two using IE

Well, it doesn't make any difference which browser you use...this one did the same thing...took me back to the last page.

(Now I remember why I don't use IE for this forum. Slow as molasses in January. Mad)

I have to go back to FireFox post and check, but I did notice in the URL after it says 'showtopic', it has =554&lastpost=true#554. I'm wondering if that 'lastpost' is the problem in the URL?

ETA...The URL is identical in FireFox.

ETA again...Gemini, I checked your post above with the 2 URLs that worked, and the 2 that didn't. The ones you linked to the last page say '...&lastpost...' worked, but the ones that didn't work also said '...&lastpost...' Call me Sherlock( Titter ), but I think that's the problem...this software only lets you link to the last page, no matter what.

That sums it up Sherlock! I hope that Richard can figure it out.

Morning wave

Wondering if an attachment feature can be added to the PM 'department'?

Apologies if this has already been addressed...(and if it has, I dare you to link to the specific post happy Titter)

Thanks!

While I'm here....is it just me, or does this forum load so very (very) s-l-o-w-l-y for everyone?

I'm thinking that the ads may have something to do with it. It's even slower when I have a cam (WildEarth) up at the same time, but I can't be the only one that has both the forum up and a cam going simultaneously!! Nothing else slows down on my computer while 'camming' Puzzled ...and posting or moving about the forum seizes the cam briefly while doing so.

Is this problem slygirl specific, you think Rolling on floor laughing

There are times that it's exceedingly slow for me as well. I'm guessing that it's a combination of internet traffic and traffic on the ad server.

I'm hoping to update the wish/fix list soon - will add the request for attachments in PMs.
