After a while I guess his hunger got to him and he attacked the food with great gusto.

Hi Mary. I was watching on and off over the weekend, and only saw one eagle on the nest. I believe they said Lucy hasn't been seen since the 19th.
But they have this update posted on the Eagles4Kids home page: "Two eagles were spotted in a tree next to the nest several times on Saturday and Sunday. Larry was in the nest today while the other one was sitting just out of view of the camera. We do not know who the other eagle is. There may have been two eagles at the nest today, but at different times. We are checking on the video. Very confusing today! Larry also ate a squirrel in the nest. This caused a lot of tension because the other eagle was just out of view of the camera."
And I just saw two eagles on the nest! I didn't get any s'caps on this computer - I'll try to get them transferred and add them tonight. I don't think the other one was the missing mate - Larry and Lucy did a bit of pecking at each other, but generally worked together companionably, while this looked to me more like a "getting to know you" session, where one was doing a bit of modest "defense of the nest" (but not a serious attack) and the other was looking a little submissive. But I do think there were a male and female.
I'll try to keep an eye on the nest today and see what happens.

Someone was there a few minutes ago - probably Larry.

I've seen a couple of visits this morning - only one eagle at a time.
Initially he(?) had a little tuft of feathers visible on the top of the head:

I'm not seeing that now, but it may be the same eagle after doing a bit of grooming.
It's now about 9:30 and he is back again, moving sticks around and working on the nest.

JudyB...I read what they said about identifying Lucy too. Apparently she has two bumps on the left side of her beak and they haven't been able to get a good enough look at the "new" eagle's beak to tell if it is Lucy or not.
Nest is empty right now at 1:45PM nest time.

About 1/2 hour later he was back in the nest.

Larry landed in the middle of the nest. I knew it was the same eagle by the fluff on his chest.

He stood there just looking around for quite some time and was still there when I went to another nest.
