Good morning, CAL and Donna! Thanks for the weather update, CAL - looks like a nice day at the nest,

I was checking regularly yesterday, and since reasonable weather wasn't enough to restart the cam, I'm guessing they may need to go out there - with luck the issue will be with cabling or the computers on the ground, since they won't be able to go into the tree at this point.

I've also been checking the Sutton Center page - http://www.suttoncenter.org/pages/live_eagle_camera - they usually post updates below the little chat window when they have news. It's my impression that Vian is quite a ways from the Sutton Center, so a trip out there might be a bit difficult to organize.

I am hoping they'll either be able to get the cam back - or at least swap the WA cam for one that can zoom in closer, which would give us a better look at the chicks as they get bigger. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Good morning, JudyB and Donna,

Thanks much for the info, JudyB. Yes, I believe that Vian is quite a distance from Bartlesville (Sutton Center); am thinking it is much closer to Sooner Lake.

Will be out for now.

I just found the following updated posted on the Sutton Center website:

13 February: The crippling snowfalls and low temperatures have certainly made February a challenging month for both people and wildilfe in Oklahoma. We will do our best to restore the Sequoyah close-up cam feed as soon as possible. There is a problem with streaming the video for that camera (but not with the camera itself). As of today we can confirm that both chicks appear to be doing well. We hope to also investigate the status of the Sooner Lake pair once a bit more of the snow is gone and travel is easier.

Sounds like good news to me for two reasons - both chicks are doing well, and it sounds as if the problem is likely in a component that they can repair/replace during nesting season - once they are able to send someone out with the necessary equipment.

Must admit I hope that happens sooner rather than later - the chicks are 9 and 12 days old now - and no doubt growing fast! Smile

Cam is back, and I see one not-so-tiny chick out enjoying the sunshine! Checked the Sutton Center site, and both have been seen - could be that the younger one is partly tucked under Mom.

The older one will be two weeks old tomorrow, so getting close to being able to regulate her own body temperature. love

Feeding going on - and Little is getting a most of it! (Big looks too full to move, so perhaps she got most of the last feeding.)

Ma fed both of the eaglets. The one in front took a tumble but righted itself and was back paying attention to the parent.
Ma then moved to 5.

12:57 the parents are off the nest. Little is trying to snooze but Big is very active.

Big tries to escape the nest bowl. Gets to the very top of the nest bowl and falls back into it. Then moves back to the other side of the nest bowl. It won't be long and this one will be out and about.
