After interacting with the Harlan's Hawk, Pa continued on to the nest tree.

The Harlan's Hawk didn't take the hint and was still flying around the nest.

Pa stayed perched and just watched.

I did not see Ma on this trip.

A few blocks from my home, I spotted this eagle in a tree along Eldridge ave.
I posted a few photos of an eagle in this tree about a week ago. Probably the same bird.

Scudder Pond * 3-11-12
Last year, I reported on the Scudder Pond eagle nest. It collapsed just as the eaglets were learning to fly.
They have not rebuilt at the same spot, but I think they may be nesting somewhere nearby.
I have seen an eagle perched at a spot overlooking Lake Whatcom which was one of the Scudder Pond pair's favorite perches.
Here are a few photos of an eagle, I presume it is one of the Scudder Pond eagles.

Doug, I hope your Red River eagles have young ones this season. You should be able to get some good pics, unless the foliage gets too think around the nest Right thumb up Great pics of the Harlan's Hawk, Smugglers Slough Pa, and the Scudder Pond eagles. Too bad their nest blew down, but hopefully they have built another one somewhere. Let us know if you find a new nest in their territory.

Hi Kay * Thanks for your comments. Yes, I have my fingers crossed that the RR nest has a successful outcome this year.

Red River Nest 3-14-12

Despite the miserable, very chilly weather, I made a quick trip out to the nests this morning.
Both of the RR eagles were home, one perched and one on the nest, brooding.

Smugglers Slough Nest 3-14-12

As I walked into the nest area, I could see one of the eagles perched near the nest.
Still quite a distance from the nest, the perched bird took off and the previously unseen mate took off out of the nest.
The bird that had been in the nest made a short flight and returned to the nest.
It was off the nest for less than 30 seconds. It certainly appears that they have eggs and are brooding !!
