RED RIVER Nest Review.

I began watching this nest in February.
On March 6 it began to look like the pair was incubating egg{s}.
Based on that date, April 10 would have been an approximate hatch date.
On April 12, I saw an adult with food in the nest tree. I did not see it deliver the food to the nest, but it certainly may have.
By April 18, the behavior on the nest indicates that the pair are no longer sitting on egg{s}.
This history is based on my observations which are infrequent .... only a couple times a week for an hour or two.
Much speculation, but its the best we can do from a distance on the ground. I want to put a camera on a helium balloon and float it over the nest...... not going to happen.Grin
Based on this, the eaglet{s} are about 2+ weeks old.

NEST REPORT * 4-25 -10

Here the eagle on the nest appears to be in some unusual position. See tail at left and wing tip showing over front of nest. It was like this when I arrived and remained spread out for about 10 minutes more. Looks a bit like the Mumbrella position, but it was not raining or particularly windy.

The eagle's mate was perched above the nest, but flew off shortly after I arrived. The nesting bird looks over the nest rim.

Smugglers Slough Nest Review.

I began watching this nest in February.
On March 8 it began to look like the pair was incubating egg{s}.
Based on that date, April 12 would have been an approximate hatch date.
On April 10, I saw an adult feeding in the nest, but I could not see it feeding any youngsters.
By April 18, the behavior on the nest indicated that the pair were no longer sitting on egg{s}.
Based on this, the eaglet{s} are about 2+ weeks old.

NEST REPORT * 4-25 -10

On Sunday morning when I arrived at the nest, both eagles were present. One in the nest, one perched.

The perched eagle {I think this is the male} has something to say and then goes for another local flight.

The eagle on the nest does another flight. Once again it has straw in its talons. I sometimes get distracted by one bird or the other, but I'm pretty certain that this straw was brought from the nest and then returned to the nest. Very curious. I'm not sure what the intent of this behavior may be ??

NOOKSACK NEST Review

This pair has me utterly befuddled. Nearly always seen together, almost never seen in the nest.
April 4 was the last time {before Sunday} that I saw both eagles together. Neither were seen again until April 18, when one was seen and observed flying into the nest. They can completely disappear in the nest, so they could be brooding and remain unseen.

4-25-10
This is the first time that I have seen both eagles in the nest.
