JULY 9 2011

6 15 am Bluster was on a high branch, same spot as 9pm the night before.

Mr. sunshinecoast spotted Bluster on a branch while we were at Wilson Creek plaza at 1:08pm.

Not seen in the evening or around 9pm. I guess Bluster has found another spot to spend the night.

:hello: It sounds like Mr. Sunshinecoast saw Bluster on the branch yesterday as we were taking pictures, since you saw us leaving the nest tree neighbourhood. We were there around 1:00.
We arrived to find Bluster in the tree with an adult who flew out as we started snapping pictures. Maybe camera shy. There were what looked like gull feathers in the tree, on the ground and in Bluster's beak. I thought the disarrayed appearance of feathers Hubbie noticed on Bluster had to do with an ongoing preening, but then the feather in the beak wouldn't be there. Maybe just a really good feeding had just taken place. We caught the feather flying away from her beak. Grin
The neighbours we met up with this time didn't know if Bluster had fledged yet. I was able to relay your story of last Tues evening. Who would have thought a fledge would take place so late in the evening? :dunno:
White look on the beak is from the feather.

I assure you that Bluster has fledged, maybe Bluster flew before that.:dunno: could have been it's 2nd or 3rd flight. We saw a juvie fly over that evening who knows if it was Bluster or another? Just look at where Bluster was on July 5 - at the very TOP of the tree. If there was a cam in the nest we would have an accurate time of first fledge. We look very often through the telescope and Bluster is nowhere to be seen even if Bluster goes behind the trunk of the tree s/he would be seen sooner or later. Bluster is not always in the tree/nest at night now.

4 39pm Tree empty, no Bluster no Ma or Pa - probably at the beach.

6 05pm Bluster lying down in the nest.

8 30pm Standing on a branch.

8 35pm Bluster was doing some wingercizing, after doing this a few times, I thought I would keep my eyes glued to the telescope and sure enough Bluster did a magnificent "fly out" of the nest.Very Happy Bluster looked so beautiful.
