Nests in Sechelt:

1. Stalashen Nest -

2009 - 2 eaglets not named
2010 - 1 eaglet Sunny
2011 - 1 eaglet Bluster

2. Chapman Nest located on Sunshine coast Highway (Highway 101) - no confirmation of eaglets this year

3. Kinnikinnick Park Nest- no eaglets seen, not being used right now

4. Porpoise Bay Nest (blew down but we will have to look to see if they rebuilt - I did see eagles flying there a couple of weeks ago)

5. Seaview Nest (it is close to Seaview Lane) this is in West Sechelt - 2011 - 2 eaglets seen.

6. Shoreline Nest - 2011 - 2 eaglets seen



Nests in Gibsons:

1. Near Chaster Beach 2011 - not being used right now.

Stalashen Nest

We have been watching this nest in Sechelt from our living room, through a telescope and binoculars. My husband saw that the nest was being used several years ago but we didn't see the eagles there again until 2008. We have been following it ever since. We have talked to a few of the people living close to the nest and they said that it has been there over 20 years. Unfortunately, it did blow down in July 2009 after a windstorm but we are happy to tell you that the eagles have built a new nest. :clap2:In 2009 there were 2 eaglets.

From our house.

Here are a few pics that I took through our telescope, the nest is about a mile and a half away. There are 2 eagles in it. I have to stand on a stool and hold my camera against the eyepiece.

We can only see them clearly in the morning or evening due to the glare from the water and thermal interference.

These are the branches that the eagles "dumped" as they didn't want them for their nest.

Sandra (stim) and husband Dave visited the nests with us on January 9, 2010 and Dave got the GPS reading - Thanks Dave:

It was a thrill to view both eagles and the nest through Marg's telescope after seeing her pictures posted here. On leaving the house we returned to the nest to get a GPS reading: Lat 49.4380*N, Long 123.7186*W, Alt 13 ft. Dave tried getting a picture with that but dusk was starting to fall and it wasn't bright enough. Another time!

Here are a few more pics taken through our telescope, nest is a mile and a half away. 2 eaglets visible, sorry not very clear but the best I can do. We have fun watching this nest.

Taken January 14, 2010 a couple of our local eagles.




Here is a nest at Porpoise Bay that Sandra (stim) and her husband discovered! We had watched eagles in that area many times but they found it!

Here are the two eagles in the Stalashen nest. Taken November 3, 2009.



One flew off.

Sunday January 31, 2010.

We saw several different eagles this morning - foggy weather here.
